A reminder, as he says it better than I could.

Still, we (the West) are pathetically weak in our support as Russia escalates its attacks on civilians. Debates over whether to send 12 tanks ffs given what is happening. We should have been mass producing modern tanks and sending hundreds of them many months ago. We should have been sending the best air defence systems. The financial cost is nothing compared to the cost of Ukraine losing this war.

No words needed. But still somehow were at a point where the West is too afraid or too selfish to properly give Ukraine what it needs to stop this invasion. Madness and shameful.

Hopefully someone will take him out. But the toxicity runs deep in Russia.

Just Russia openly accepting war crimes.

Think how f*cked up it is that when Russia doesn't even try to hide what it is, we have people here in the West that try to pretend that Russia somehow isn't so bad.

Check this one out. This 20 year old Ukrainian girl was under Russian occupation in the early days of the 2022 invasion. A Russian knows about all this and sent her this message telling her she was wrong to be celebrating the European date for Christmas instead of the old Soviet date and that Russia loves Ukraine etc etc. She despises her Russian relatives now and has disowned them.

One of her Russian 'friends' even threatened to give her location to the Russian military when under occupation. Rudsia is a toxic country right now and people probably don't realise the extent of it still.

It is the result of a huge amount of propaganda over many years. Same as what happened in Nazi Germany.

Tbh I don't agree with this rhetoric either. No 'species' or 'race' is inherently good or bad. What I can agree on is that Russian culture is poisoned by propaganda and that way too many have toxic attitudes, beliefs and behaviour because of it. Not all Russians are bad but far too many are. Far too many made racial slurs against their neighbours in Ukraine and supported or even celebrated the invasion.

Some however just didn't feel confident enough to speak out against it for fear of punishment.

He said 'Russia', not its individuals.

There are good and normal people in every country but it's pretty clear that there is also a lot of toxicity within Russian culture. That there has been so little real resistance to the invasion is evidence of this. It's an authoritarian and corrupt state where propaganda and lies are encouraged.

What did you think of the video showing Russian soldiers executing civilians?

What I meant was I was reluctant to give the very small minority of Kremlin propagandists a platform, or to waste any time in exchanges with them.

But I do think that proving where they were so obviously wrong is important. Just in case any others bought their nonsense.

And I agree, the invasion of Ukraine definitely shouldn't be forgotten about. It's as bad now as it ever has been (with Russia's terrorism of civilian populations even more blatant), and Ukrainians need more support than ever.

Reluctant to start anything more about Russia's invasion of Ukraine but I feel that this particular subject needs attention.

Remember when a handful of people here did their best to try and deny Russia's war crimes in Bucha? Well here is the NY Times investigation into what happened. As conclusive as it gets with video footage, audio, images, call history etc.

Of course it won't be a surprise to any normal person, but I do think that those who tried to spread Kremlin propaganda should be shamed for it. I would say 'ashamed', but they won't be, as you have to already have something quite wrong with you to support Russia in this.

Investigation here. 30 minute video and report:

Also don't have much interest in the women's form of the game, even though some of the highlights I've seen show a good level of skill.

I'm split on the way it is artificially pushed by the BBC in particular. On the one hand I think it's wrong that men's sport (with genuine, organic interest) is being pushed off webpages etc to accommodate women's team sport, but then when I see the faces of girls in the crowd enjoying themselves and celebrating a goal I do think it is nice.

I can't ever see women's team sport being as big as men's though. Feminists at the BBC would hate to admit it but most women have a different nature to men. Different priorities. For the majority, their idea of competition is what happens on love island or who has the nicest wedding dress, not who is the biggest/strongest/fastest/most skilled player etc.

And on the direct topic of the thread....try asking the BBC why equality only matters when it suits their agenda (I.e. ask them why they don't care about visually impaired people who need to use screen readers to tell them which version of the sport the headline is about). If I remember correctly the BBC employ a feminist equalities person who launched a target of how many articles about female sports there should be on the sports pages.

What really annoys me is when you get men's sporting matches with literally hundreds of years of history (e.g. First class cricket or a world title boxing fight) get pushed off the top stories section or not covered at all simply because some clown at the BBC thinks that Sweden v Uruguay women's football should be more important.

A costly accident. $5 billion that bridge cost.

The US twin towers would have been around $4 billion in today's money.

Putin f*cked up so badly when he invaded Ukraine.

Kerch bridge (Crimean bridge) on fire. A huge moment in this war if it's from a military attack. On Putin's birthday too.

I don't understand why people think freedom of speech means people can say absolutely anything they want. That's not how it works. There have always been limits to freedom of speech/expression. Go to Poland or Germany and try to wear a swastika or deny the holocaust, stand in the street here and shout some racist or homophobic abuse out and see how long it takes you to get arrested.

Our laws state that hate speech is a limit to freedom of speech and also speech which affects national security is limited too. The legislation is out there.

While it might not currently be a crime to spout Kremlin propaganda in the UK I would argue that its got to a point now where it should be. The war crimes are too obvious to deny, the Kremlin lines are too easy to disprove and we know the Kremlin spends a lot of money to put these lines out there. Russia considers us the 'enemy' and they effectively are our enemy (only today the Russian embassy to the UK was basically threatening nuclear war on Twitter).

Furthermore, private websites are allowed to make their own rules within the law.

CJ was deliberately spreading the most blatant Kremlin propaganda on here. It was tasteless and nasty (trying to avoid using the word evil). That individual wasn't interested in 'debate'. Only on denying any Russian war crimes (even where evidence was/is irrefutable) and doing what so many Kremlin propagandists do which was lie about the causes of war (either because they're paid or because they have some other motive like politics).

Another poster here does similar, only very slightly less blatantly. Very slightly (in my view).

None of that stuff is based on fact or about honest debate. It was/is just about spreading lies at a time when people are dying because of those same lies.

Eastern countries have a lot of good things about them. Ukraine was a stunning place and no doubt much of Russia is too. And like you say, the women are often beautiful. Quite different to most Western countries it has to be said. But sadly the Russian population now are largely brainwashed (mainly the elder population) and they're ruled by a dictatorship. It will take a long time for Russia to be thought of in any positive light after this.

I know people who lived in Russia and loved it and I know they have friends who stayed and wished they had gotten out before the 2022 invasion begun. I wonder if those that stayed are being drafted to fight now.
