| Forum Thread | Kick off times at 22:58 19 Sep 2024
As we approach another cock's-crow kick off time, as I mulled over my ale, it occured to me that if all this is a “success”, ie increased subs and ad revenue for Sky, we could be looking back at this season as the good old days when we still had some Sat 3pm kick offs. It surely behoves all those with Sky subs to cancel. |

Gary Lineker introducing Last Night At The Proms….it was only a spoof but it worried a few of us….then the opening with symphonic arrangements of sporting theme music, Match of the Day etc. |

| Forum Thread | Smoking outside pubs at 21:56 29 Aug 2024
I'm an ex pipe and cigar smoker but jacked it in when Tony Blair banned smoking in pubs. Now talk of banning it in pub gardens. I know it's a health risk but so are many things. Smoking outside won't have a deleterious effect on other peoples' health and the pub trade has problems aplenty - any thoughts ? |

| Forum Thread | LU Question at 20:32 4 Aug 2024
I bet this has come up in pub quizzes but a question in the Times general knowledge crossword today - one of six London Underground stations named after pubs (5,4) I haven't looked it up by I'm guessing Burnt Oak. What the other five are I don't know. Sorry edit ( 5,3) ! [Post edited 4 Aug 20:37]

| Forum Thread | Card season ticket at 21:17 2 Aug 2024
A week to go and no sign of the season ticket cards through the post. Why do they leave it so late given the creaky postal system. I think last year mine arrived with just 2 days to go. |
| Forum Thread | Orange wine at 20:55 30 Jul 2024
There's been lots of talk on social media (Yeah, I know), about orange wine. I saw a bottle in Waitrose, special intro price so I bought it. I'm on beer tonight so will sample it tomorrow night. Anyone tried it ? Will I be stricken or be puking ? |
| Forum Thread | Peace & Quiet……. at 21:17 21 Jul 2024
I know it's tough for people going on holiday and business, but for those of us living under the Biggin Hill flightpath it's been so peaceful the last few days. Last peaceful time was of course during Covid. |

| Forum Thread | Saint Marti ? at 15:43 24 May 2024
This has been broached before, but I was in the pub on me Jack Jones earlier so got to read an article in the paper on Sainthood. Candidates are first declared a Servant Of God. Next step - Venerable. When they perform their first miracle, they are beatified and declared Blessed. When they perform another miracle , they are Canonised and made a Saint. So, just the one miracle to go then ! |
| Forum Thread | Come on you flibbertigibbets at 17:30 5 May 2024
I thought for one wild moment we were being praised by Rod Liddle in the Times. “QPR thumped a disintegrating Leeds side. Marti Cifuentes brought in to replace the hapless Gareth Ainsworth has somehow transformed the West Londn flibbertigibbets into a more than competant midtable side” Didn't he call us Stripey Nigels once ? To think he writes for the most famous newspaper in the world. |
