| News Comment | Facing the axe while beating the drop — Richard Langley guest column at 23:44:42
Agree with your "team identity" point. Last year we had a unified dressing room and a definite style that we stuck to. This year we can hardly put the same eleven on the pitch in any given fortnight. The problem started with that rush at the end of the transfer window, I think it pissed off a fair few and didnt give us enough time to consolidate. By the time it got to January at had got out of hand, and we, in desperation, made the same mistake again, although it was arguably necessary. If we had stuck to our guns from last year, with a bit of investment in the team, but sensible, considered, long term investment, I think we'd be doing alot better than we are now. We'd have a united dressing room, a bit of continuity, and a team identity. And if we went down under this system, it would be nowhere near as damaging, and we've have a long term system in place to consolidate as a top flight team. |
| News Comment | Plenty of positives, but still that doubt, at new-look QPR — guest column at 12:18:05
Wages may be high, but then again, so were the wages we payed to the likes Vine, Pellecori and Alberti. At least this time where getting a good mix of talent and experience that we can really get behind. For the club to grow, produce better youth and such, we need to establish a strong base with which to build success, and thats what Fernandes is trying to build. We can only be called the "man city of the bottom five" if we have a whole a whole new team next year, with SWP and Barton on the bench and the like. |
| News Comment | Weekend Diary — Warnock upbeat but disappointed by transfer fund at 05:55:47
I can't see Kenny going. Warnock loves him and would probably prefer to fork out more money to keep hold of him than buy another forward or defender. And lets face it, Kenny has probably the biggest role in keeping us in the division next season, and his loss would prove absoloutely catastrophic, something I'm sure Warnock would do anything to avoid. |

the real test of the farcicality of the board will come if Taarabt is sold. If he is, then they're gonna have to front up with some more cash for Warnock in the transfer market, else effectively consigning the team to an almost pre-determined relegation. But maybe that's what he wants, maybe he wants to make a little money while he can, enjoy the premiership while it lasts, then cash in and sell to the Mittals before he has the chance to lose any real money. I know its an extremely pessimistic view, but judging by the board's actions so far, it is more than possible. |
| News Comment | Harrow and Hampton trips get Rangers up and running at 05:47:27
I guess thats one of the advantages of living in Sydney - we've got proper Rugby League going on at the moment which is always great to watch. Great for the season to be getting underway again though. |
| News Comment | Wednesday Diary — Cook has high hopes at 08:13:25
As an aussie who has seen a fair bit of Marrone im not too sure that he is up to it. Decent at A-League standard but the championship, and the premiership for that matter, would be a huge step up. Adel Taarabt to Real Madrid? You think the media could come up with some more realistic transfer stories than that one. |
| News Comment | Pascal Chimbonda — a gamble worth taking? at 03:11:10
Yeah i think its a gamble worth taking, its only a six month deal, so if anything goes wrong then we can just cut him adrift. I think he`ll have to work his way into the side in front of Bradley Orr and clint hill, and i can maybe see him becoming a regular at left back |
| News Comment | Taarabt delivers knockout after Boxing Day punch up — full match report at 01:56:27
Great Analysis mate. We played superbly in the second half, first half we were losing the ball dribbling out of defence and I thought Swansea looked good for at least a draw, but thta second half blew me away. Nice to see Rowly getting in the thick of it again too. |
