Stoke City v Queens Park Rangers- match thread hi
at 15:04 29 Mar 2025

We're already playing with 10 men with Andersen out there.
I hope I am wrong but it just baffles me when certain players who are clearly not up to it get starts.

Liverpool Newcastle Cup Final
at 08:23 17 Mar 2025

I think that shows how much more it meant to the Newcastle fans and how much more of an occasion it was to them.

Many of the Liverpool fans, a number of which are probably London based anyway, have had numerous cup finals over the years and probably think closer to the line of 'it's just another match'.

The Liverpool players just seemed tired and played without any overt passion or spirit. In compassion several of their players were celebrating tackles and throw ons as if they had just scored.

I'm not bothered who wins the league but I bet Arsenal and Forest will shorten that gap towards the end of the season as Liverpool limp over the line. Much like the last time they won it, they had a terrible run towards the end of the season.

Non alcoholic beer/lager......
at 17:02 6 Mar 2025

Just to bring this back to life...

I tried the St Austell Proper Job 0.5% IPA with a curry last night.

I highly recommend. Probably one of the best non-alcoholics beers I have had to date and pretty close to the real thing in taste and feel. Can be found in Morrisons.

Lots more seem to have come in to the market recently and the taste is only going to improve (mostly anyway).

Trump v Zelensky
at 08:43 1 Mar 2025

As people have said on here it was a total set up for the benefit of the Russian state.

They allowed some one from Russian state media in on the dressing down. Then when it was pointed out that they probably shouldn't be there, there was a quick statement that says 'oh yeah we have removed this person.'
I mean, I imagine the security levels for these events are pretty tight. But somehow some one from Russian state media was present?

It all stinks and I fear for what is to come in the future.

Trump may think he is behaving in a way that makes America strong and that they will benefit from it but actually they will get nothing from this in the end. Ukraine aren't going to suddenly defer and say, yeah you're right let's get a peace deal and hand over the entire country to Putin. Makes me sick how they are trying to twist this around and make out that Zelensky is being unreasonable because he's had his country invaded.

QPR v Derby match thread

That tackle in the first 2 minutes shows this referee is going to allow Derby to kick our players around with impunity. That was a blatant yellow card let alone a foul that wasn't even given!

Leeds H - moves to 12.30
at 13:11 14 Feb 2025

Used to be a postie in W12 and if they ever moved it to a 12:30 KO (less often 10-15 years ago) on a Saturday I would have to fly round my walk and then hot foot it to the ground. Some of the older boys in the delivery office wouldn't be so lucky!

Absolutely fantastic.

Like you say, typical Premier League club thinking they can rest their first team and disrespect their opposition. I hope they feel thoroughly embarrassed. Plymouth deserved it.

I do feel like we miss a trick every year, resting players, prioritise finishing 16th. The Plymouth fans will remember that for the rest of their lives.

They may well stay up now on the back of that result.

Sam Kerr on trial
at 17:43 6 Feb 2025

It's a different loaded context I would say.

Again I am not excusing her choice of words but as she explained today in court she was implying that calling out his whiteness was to do with his privilege of not having been in her position and not understanding that she perceives herself as being treated differently due to her skin colour.
As much as some people disagree with that, unfortunately engrained discrimination and racism is still alive in our society so she has a point, as badly made as it was in the time of her no doubt intoxicated mind.

So calling some one black and stupid is not the same based on the above view point. In fact it is a lazy racial bias that used to be implied and even believed in our recent history so for me, it is more directly offensive.

I don't expect many people to agree with it but it is a valid point of view and is backed up by numerous social experiments, many done recently too.

Sam Kerr on trial
at 20:11 5 Feb 2025

What a waste of tax payer money.

I am not for one moment excusing the behaviour of Sam Kerr who has shown her true character in this whole debacle. That should be enough for her to be fined by her employer and reprimanded (if I behaved like that in a position she is in I would expect no less). She should be made to make a public apology so that young people who would otherwise look up to her realise that behaving like a spoilt brat is not something to aspire to. But Chelsea have history for backing their players no matter how disgusting their behaviour.

I would say however that the context of her choice of words, in my opinion, don't amount to a public order offence. It sounds like she was trying to imply that him being white meant he didn't comprehend her perspective of events. Again, I am not excusing her behaviour or language but seriously, that police officer surely didn't take offence that much he thought it needed to end up in court. Just have a 20 minute mediation and get an apology, job done. Instead a trial over the course of a few days for something that will probably go the same way John Terry's did all those years ago... Pathetic.

I'm sure many would disagree with me. I just think she's not worth the effort beyond an apology.

It does make me wonder, especially with children present, why they should be allowed to get away with that. It is essentially a Section 4A Public Order offence. If it was pointed out to a police officer present then they should be doing something about it, as difficult as that may be in a mob. There's always CCTV for retrospective arrest/summons.

If the police are made aware of it and do nothing while someone was genuinely alarmed by it I'd be making a formal complaint (as much as that probably wouldn't go anywhere).
Not saying it bothers me particularly, I just find it baffling behaviour that when offered for said person to follow through with it they shrink away or find a reason not to (Get big Dave to hold them back). But for the sake of those with youngsters or anyone else who would be intimidated then something should be done.

And yes I am aware we have our own rent-a-mob but it does seem to be a higher proportion of the crowd at certain clubs who behave like this.

I find it surprising someone within the club hasn't leaked out the actual story with him. It must be quite well known within a circle of the clubs staff.

All the theories, all the gossip, all the tall stories. Someone must actually know what's going on.

Southampton plus?
at 15:26 19 Jan 2025

I think the three promoted teams will be going back down for the second season in a row.
Wolves maybe might be the only ones to prevent that. They are in the middle of a really tough run of fixtures but they will probably be okay.
Leicester defend so poorly and Ipswich will probably fall just short. I reckon at this rate you'll only need 33 points to stay up this year and as poor as Everton are I'm sure they will get at least 15 points from their last 17 games.
Tottenham just need a kick up the backside. They will be fine.

They're doomed. Down with either Leicester or Ipswich and Southampton. Could be another season where 32 points is enough. Which is ridiculous.

Their next 8 games after a 'six pointer away to Leicester' is something like:
Manchester United
Tottenham
Nottingham Forest
Newcastle
Chelsea
Arsenal
Aston Villa
Liverpool

By that point it will be the middle of February and I'd be amazed if they were on anything more than 15-16 points.

FA cup 3rd round draw

To account for the rugby later on that day...

Seriously, couldn't they have foreseen that prior to etching the kick off time in stone. I hope that hasn't fu**ed up anyones train bookings. Not that the FA care.

It is true, other countries wouldn't take this pathetic treatment of match attending fans. I'd be livid if I was a Peterborough fan.

It goes back to the other thread about playing all this possession football.
Birmingham have had 80% possession so far apparently but it's done them no good!

Good luck to Gas, I hope he succeeds there.
