I still like the Red Lion. I stayed in Southampton for the first time in years this time last year, saw something at the Mayflower and stayed at the White Star Tavern (which was really nice), but my wife and I spent the evening in the Red Lion with the locals, most enjoyable.
This. And everything else you said in this thread to be honest.
I enjoy taking my son to Saints and chatting with him about players - it's the only enjoyment I get now from it as it's a) awful, b) full of youtube divs, c) it's just a circus act. Football as a whole, it's a circus.
TBF Hull is a decent city - I went to Uni there in the 90s. Sure some of it is a little strange and some of the people rough round the edges, but then where isn't??
