| Forum Reply | Are we as fans really that unhappy to return to the Championship? at 10:52 24 Jan 2025
The Premier a bummer for us but next season will be a relief and much more fun, but nothing's going to work out, in the medium term, until we get wealthy enough owners that are committed to Southampton FC. SR are not committed and therefore not competent enough for Southampton FC. Unfortunately, we're stuck with this situation until SR decide the decent thing and pass us over to determined, decent owners who can take Saints forward - and like Brighton , Bournemouth and Brentford - it could be our turn to have a seriously competitive squad. It's Frustrating for Saints fans now but in the longer term there's always more hope. Roll on and march on. |

I always enjoyed the battles with a very good Wrexham side in Division 2, led by the incomparable Micky Thomas. Now, they're a different beast - yes, built with dubious money but what side isn't these days - that's football today unfortunately. I'd like to see a cap on spending and assets to make all competition fair but as long as greed and Mammon rule the real world, that's never going to happen. |

At least stick Albert on the bench, if he's fit, for a thirty or twenty minute cameo when we're 3-0 down! |

Yes, we'd all look pretty decent on YouTube. It's easier to make forwards look good because they're just knocking the ball into the net but is much harder to make a running midfielder look overly good on YouTube. Apart from Fernandes, heaven forbid, I haven't seen any other of our midfielder's play like that for years. Anyway, we have to find a replacement for Big Les and Downsey's not up to scratch at the moment. He's on loan with an option to buy so, for a change, we can't really lose. |

I don't want to to put the mockers on it, and all fingers crossed, but Albert Gronbaek, if YouTube film is anything to go by ( and often it's not because the bloke has to perform in the EPL) looks the biscuit etc: fast, strong, direct, got a shot and intelligent. The kind of player we should have been buying 4 years ago and for once a very capable midfielder. He looks exciting and I'm one I'm excited about putting on a Saints shirt. Just the the kind of buy I'd expect Juric to pick up. No doubt I'm overly optimistic but let's see him put on the shirt as soon as possible. Rock on! [Post edited 22 Jan 12:31]

I can't see the big deal about Danny Rohl - just because he was served alongside and was associated with a former failed manager of ours and saved SW from getting relegated to League 1. Juric has got a much greater pedigree. Woof woof. |

Should have played Ugochukwu and Sulemana from the start - would have thought Juric would have done considering their form recently. Ah well, a spirted fight back and Onuachu scored - celebrate!! |

You did not have to have a massive computer sized brain to see that we were already doomed once we'd gone up unless we recruited ridiculously well. The realistic intent from SR just wasn't there and still isn't. Feel sorry for Solak who seems to have been taken for a big ride by SR and is now looking a right mug. At least the fans can gripe and walk away if they want to without too much of a bank account disaster. [Post edited 19 Jan 15:19]

On for a right hammering. Reminds me the 10 year olds getting thrashed by the 12 years olds. Embarrassing again. [Post edited 19 Jan 14:55]

Lose the ball near our box, a la Martin style, a run and shot 2-0. Too easy. Trying hard but doing nothing with it. Out of our depth unfortunately. |

Don't agree - Saints are playing with far more spirit and intent, and have been unlucky, than under Martin's mindless methods. Do agree that we haven't got the squad and it's mainly SR's fault. It might not seem like it but It's getting better, cheer up! |
