Actually not sure at the moment. I think a vote for a party that isn't Galloway or Labour is wasted in Rochdale but I don't want to vote for either, potentially the first time I'll ever spoil my ballot. |

Southgate has ridden the wave of getting to a final and a semi-final of a major tournament off the back of some of the easiest runs ever. Who are the good teams England beat en route to those?
World Cup 2022 beat Senegal and then lost to a decent team in France.
Euro 2020 we played potentially the worst German team ever, Ukraine and Denmark. Lost the tie when we played Italy, the first decent team we came across.
World Cup 2018 beat Colombia on penalties, beat Sweden and then lost to the first decent team we played in Croatia.
We beat Spain in a Nations League game once, its the only decent team I can remember beating under Southgate. In the last Nations League campaign we were relegated having lost to Hungary twice who couldn't get out of their Euros group.
We've landed in by far the easiest side of the draw again this Euros dodging Spain, Germany, Portugal, France and Belgium. There's no excuse for not getting to the final of this now with the players at his disposal. |

Southgate was awful as a football league manager and then spent a lot of time in the youth setups and it shows.
At his disposal he's got the second best goalscorer in Europe in Kane, the best player in the Premier League last season in Foden, the best player in La Liga in Bellingham to name a few and his tactics are absolutely dire. It doesn't matter who is on the bench, his subs are like for like and change nothing in the game.
It must be absolutely mind numbing for those players to go from being coached by people like Pep and Carlo every week to this garbage. There's a reason one of the best managers in the world in Klopp didn't instill Trent into a central midfield position despite it being a weakness for Liverpool, because he isn't one.
Ivory Coast recently sacked their manager mid-tournament and won the African Nations. I suspect England would be capable of the same but the FA have their yes man in place and nothing will change until he decides so.
England have always played this way under Southgate but because we've had easy runs to finals and semi-finals he was seen as some sort of Messiah. Away from Wembley England's record against teams ranked in the top 10 in the world in knock out football is played 13 won 0. I can't see that changing in this Euros. [Post edited 21 Jun 23:09]

It's inevitable that he goes, I'm just hoping now we're in a stable financial position it gives us a better footing to demand a higher fee rather than just accepting that his sale will pay the electric bill for a couple of months until we can sell someone else. |

I think the increased budget stems from them saying we'd have a play off budget and separately that they're aiming to get us in the FL within 3 years. Is that realistic on last year's budget? I'm not sure where in the pyramid we sat in terms of wages etc.
the academy was inevitable like you say, even if we could afford it, is it something worth running at such a cost if teams can come and nab our players with no protection once the EFL status of it has expired anyway. |

It will be interesting to see what our playing budget is next season, clearly they will not be pumping millions into it but the Ogden statement they say we will have a playoff budget.
From McNulty's comments throughout the season it hasn't felt like we've had a playoff budget this season.
In regards to the retained list, I can take or leave EEL, Keohane should get a new deal, I expect John to leave, Hendo will be completely up to him I would imagine, Hays next to no chance of him being here. |

Not surprising that this was done without consulting anyone outside the PL. The back handers that the FA will receive will be worth more to them than the outcry.
The only way anything will change is if everyone outside the PL refuses to play in the FA cup next season, which unfortunately won't happen. |

Boreham Wood were a really poor side tonight but a really poor side that we never looked like scoring against. I can only think of one shot on target we had which was straight at their keeper and I can't remember our keeper making a save.
Agree with the comments on Mitchell, his first touch is appalling and when someone plays a ball anywhere near him, he looks half asleep. Yes, he's scored a few goals this season but I'd expect anyone playing up front in a top half team to score a few in this division. Newby and Campbell have only scored 1 less with better Goals Per Minute ratios.
It was a game that reflects the majority of watching us this season... drab. |

It was a poor game today, our keeper kept us in it and rightly won man of the match and then for the last 10 mins their keeper kept them in it.

As a defensive unit, we weren't too bad today, it was an error of judgement by the keeper that led to their goal but then he pulled off a really good save later in the game.
Going forward, unless the name on the back of the shirt was Hayes we were completely clueless. Midfield seemed slow and ponderous and Mitchell and Rodney were virtually anonymous for 90% of the game.
The score was a fair reflection of the game. We weren't outplayed by any stretch but we were never going to score either. |

Not sure the starting XI from tonight is.
Seen nothing in Brooks to make me think he should be a professional goalkeeper. Gordon, very middle of the road at this level, EEL whilst steady has too many mistakes in him, Sassi not the answer, Armstrong we've extended his loan surely out of numbers necessity.
We really really missed Gilmour and Clayton tonight, there was absolutely nothing between the defence and our anonymous forward line. |
