Totally agree Sonic. For me, avoiding relegation, great. Mid table , superb. A few good transfers and build on it season by season after that Hopefully feel good factor from play offs will kickstart season. |

Ok. Let's bring football into it. Tactical timing. England will still be in the quarter finals of euros thus country feel good factor, flags everywhere etc etc and the political status quo will be preserved. Far more likely to lose at quarters or semi and hence change of government. So like I said, clever timing.... |

At the start of the season, i wanted play off place and that has been achieved. I know we are all fecked off because it feels as if we have thrown automatic promotion away etc etc but this has been a good season all things considered. Manager deserves the shot at play offs. He has earned the place. Give the manager another shot at improving the position next season if we don't go up. We can moan and groan when season is over. Slagging saints off when we have a relatively easy shot at Wembley is a shocker. My only caveat is if Saints COMPLETELY Show no fight in the 2 semi final games then there has to be an inquest in the close season whether to look at new management. |

Yeah, I was watching it. Amazing. Cardiff did us a massive favour. Saints just need to win now else it's all in vain |

Fair enough! Still worried about his missed challenges but hopefully he'll keep a cool head now 3 up. What a goal. Great passes by alcaraz, sulemana and brilliant work by A. Armstrong. Superb |

Cheers. I saw a couple of saints players talk to the ref , I presume about this but there was no real serious effort. Bit like the football. [Post edited 25 Sep 2023 8:32]

Like it or lump it, I think this is fair. Though I am troubled. It might still come good. And if sacked , there will be naysayers saying he didn't have enough time. Including rusty himself. 12 games and if disaster continues there is still time to change and try and stay in championship. And no one can accuse him of not having enough time to instill his 1 minded philosophy. |

Changing the subject, there was one incident I have a question about. Middlesbrough player (striker?) loses the ball cheaply and Saints have a good break on. Player then hacks the saints breaking player ( clear yellow card offence) but break is still on and ref rightly plays on. Middlesbrough player then tried to stop the break again and hacks the player (another clear yellow card). Ref finally stops play and gives a yellow but shouldn't he have been sent off for 2 yellow card offences ? Even if in same passage of play. |

Yes, Brighton can do this and did it well against Man. U . If saints are prepared for the long haul and not wanting immediate results, rusty is basically trying to instill a culture of doing this. And probably they will improve. But I get what the OP says. We are just nervous doing it. Brighton (and man c etc) look completely calm. |

Yes, exactly this. The rich clubs don't need to scout. They'll buy proven talent from the likes of Brighton who have proved themselves in the premier league already. Same as happened to us. Brighton will try and replace. Any proven star will subsequently be also picked off. Ultimately, most replacements won't be up to it and Brighton will quickly drop down. The rich clubs sometimes buy of each other but it is in their interest to keep weakening up and coming teams like Brighton and, once, us. |
