The Bell in Ruslip Gardens is NOT showing it as usual, the PL have blocked European transmissions, this will be the case with a lot of other pubs. The guvnor is not happy.

Just spoke to staff in both Hennessy's and Sweeney's and it doesn't sound very encouraging. The said it's only listed on one Arabic channel that they don't receive so they will only know by doing a scan 5 minutes before kick off if they can find it somewhere. |  | | |

The way that recent court case was reported in the press was quite misleading.
Yes the pub landlady Karen Murphy won her fight against being charged with criminal activity for using a Greek satellite box/decoder to stream Prem matches, and yes the court ruled that such practice (ie getting a foreign box and streaming games through it) was legal because rules against it contravened EU freedom of trade regulations, in simple terms meaning you should be allowed to buy freely what you like from what is on offer all over the EU. So the Prem League could not use that route to prosecute the pub owners.
BUT the court also ruled that some elements of the live streams, such as the score graphics, premier league logo, commentary, any in game highlights or replays, the premier league anthem etc was covered by copyright law. This means that any pub owner showing these streams without the Prem's permission would be breaching copyright law and it is through that route that the Prem is now pushing to punish pub owners who do that, hence the recent spate of pubs not showing games any more. |  | | |
