Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 14:49 - Mar 10 by Northernr | And actually everybody trying to play the same way as Man City has been a completely flawed tactic for the last decade because at the end of the day they'll just spend another billion quid and be better at it than you with better players. I personally find that sort of football every bit as tedious to watch as Pulis-ball. |
Wow! I guess we inhabit different footballing planets then - but I'm hardly a lone wolf! Anyone in football who wants to play it with all possible panache has been massively inspired and educated by Guardiola in recent years (and frequently said so). As for the haves and haves nots, though the gaps may have got wider, twas ever thus in professional football, I'm afraid. Resenting the rich for being rich is understandable, but, for me anyway, it doesn't completely corrode my enthusiasm and romanticism for rattling the cages of the so-called big boys. And both Manchester clubs' seasons are an object lesson, surely, in how you can spend massive money and still fail on the pitch. [Post edited 10 Mar 15:13]

Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 15:06 - Mar 10 with 645 views | Konk | I am currently finding it incredibly frustrating watching my son's team doing the pass-it-around-in-the-box bit whenever they get a goal-kick. Usually on a pitch like a ploughed field, and when by the third time they've done it, even the kids on the other side have figured out exactly what is going to happen. We've conceded so many goals this way that you find yourself hoping the ref gives the opposition a corner rather than a goal-kick. Still, trust the process.

My school's team recently won a game 5-1 and four of the goals came from dispossessing the oppo from their own goal kick. As for our goal kicks - Pulis would have been proud!

I love our coaches to bits, but it is insane. And on the very rare occasion that one of the defenders involved panics and tries to smash it down the pitch, it either goes straight to one of the opposition who is camped on the edge of our box, or lands somewhere between our box and halfway, where we have no players because most of our team are still in our bloody box. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it!

I had assumed that EFL teams are coached to play out from the back because the coaches sometimes get better jobs for implementing the system. The same with the 4:2:3:1 approach. It might not work with the players you have but you may be moving on to a team that needs that approach and therefore you become more marketable as a coach. Exacerbated by owners and CEOs who are clearly trying to find players for this systems so they can sell them to a bigger club. Round pegs in round holes - Ka’ching. Not unique to football. We see this everyday at work too - people who didn’t give a shit about ESG and climate yesterday who claim to be an expert today so they get a promotion or a role with another employer.

Haha! No, but any of our defenders or keeper could now slot very easily into a Russell Martin side, so they do have that in their favour as they get older. My Dad played CB and he can't even watch when we have a goal kick.

It's a tough one but I suppose the coach thinks they will need to learn how to play out in order to compete in higher divisions Best time to learn it is when they have the rule that all the opposition players have to behind the centre circle and it's non competitive . After that it will be nigh on impossible to learn as they will just get boxed in Good luck ! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 16:51 - Mar 10 with 371 views | Third_Division_South | Yes Saito was close with his diving header and yes he should have scored. But, had he been a ‘true’ striker he’d have been 6 inches taller and would have scored and what’s more, it was a brilliant run into the box that I’m not sure any of our other strikers would have made.

Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 14:59 - Mar 10 by stainrods_elbow | Who's rattled your cage today? I made a qualified parallel, which I explained. Guess you're another who prefers to play the man rather than the ball, eh? |
a guess is all it is though

Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 19:00 - Mar 10 with 178 views | thehat | Thanks Clive - Some great lines to help ease the pain. I wasn't there and didn't watch the match on a stream but as soon as I saw the team sheet and all the midget 10's I knew we were in for a tough afternoon. The gap is closing and looks likely to continue closing just need to scrape those two wins as soon as possible. We know this team is capable of collapsing and I am starting to get a little nervous already.

Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report on 10:49 - Mar 10 by francisbowles | I haven't seen anyone else say it, so, from memory, my take on the Furlong red card. Pal smashed into Furlong and another WBA player. Referee played on. Shortly after Pal on the deck and Furlong, obviously steaming, belts the ball, as hard as he can, at Pal but misses. Next Furlong uses a bit of arm and pointed elbow in a challenge with Saito who, being much smaller, has his face at elbow height. It was just on the edge of the screen. The linesman seemed to report what he saw to the ref and he produced red. Furlong seemed to have lost his temper just before and that, most likely, wasn't missed by the officials. It probably all contributed to the outcome. Anyway, great read. You make a miserable performance effort into a hilarious, whilst realistic, appraisal of our shortcomings. |
Appeal rejected. Three match ban.
