Lloyd and saito on 21:59 - Jan 21 with 1574 views | Malintabuk | Totally agree. What I find amazing is how our 2 young strikers come on as subs and totally change games.... There was a time when you looked at our bench and though oh no..... but now these boys are making an impact and what a great place to be Saiko is just lovable, if there was any player that the whole fan base want to succeed is him... that goal was wonderful for him, and at the end it was a joy to see the team celebrating with him There is something quite special happening here at this club right now... and by god do I love it
Lloyd and saito on 22:03 - Jan 21 with 1509 views | OakR | Great change by Marti. Chair and Kolli were not contributing for whatever reason, what a difference it made when they came on. A risk in some ways to bring on Lloyd instead of Frey, but I guess he thought his pace might work and it did, great hold up play as well. Saito has got much more physical and adapted to the game since he started, been really good when playing lately. Great to see! [Post edited 21 Jan 22:08]

Unfortunately, he sometimes also reminds me of Steve Slade - he's really one of those players with whom you feel the ball's never quite under his conscious control. But he's got guts, legs, and passion, and that's a proper base to work from.

Can’t see that myself, Slade was as weak as a new born foal, Lloyd is powerful as well as quick.
Lloyd and saito on 22:55 - Jan 21 with 1112 views | sparkey | Alfie Lloyd. What a man. Would run through a brick wall for those 3 points today. When he won that free kick in the last minute through pure guts and bravery, these are the players we need wearing blue and white. Saito, great finish son and effective throughout his whole cameo. Has a knack of always keeping the ball even when it looks like it's lost. (Less said about Ashby the better...)
Lloyd and saito on 23:00 - Jan 21 with 1057 views | Watford_Ranger | On the slow train back to York for my bed for the night. They were both superb. Changed the whole mood of the match entirely. That first ten mins of the second half was as drab as the first and it looked like one of those grim scrappy 1-0 defeats was nailed on. Lloyd comes on and he’s all over them and it’s sticking up front. The centre-halves hardly dared go near him. Saito’s goal was obscene it goes without saying but again was a great outlet, didn’t give it away, got in behind. All the good bits we’ve seen before coming together for 40 minutes of close to perfection. Some negatives in the performance as a whole but tonight’s not one for thinking about them IMO. The vibe you get off this team isn’t one any of us get to see regularly and whether we finish sixth or sixteenth it’s a pleasure to follow them right now.

You can literally see the improvement every week . He didn’t score but I thought he won us the game in the last 25 mins. Saito’s goal was an absolute thing of beauty. Brilliant goal . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As Clive would say, the ball never knowingly under control.

Yep when you compare the attitude of the team we’ve got now to the awful one the players had in the Beale season a couple of years ago that virtually stank the place out, the difference is incredible.

I actually thought his touch was there when he came on last night. The ball was sticking and things were coming off - if he can get that to happen consistently he could be some player. Same with Saito - both looked up to the speed of the game right away (whatever that speed was at times), good touch, good energy. With Morrison and Cook to come back, Colback getting more minutes, the idea we have a bit of a squad at the minute is hard to get the head round.

Lloyd plays like the love child of Jamie Mackie and Agyemang. If he thinks the ball is under his control, I'm not seeing it. Still, a great cameo and he terrorised their defenders with pace and strength.

It's interesting because we all have set memories of players, especially from 30 years ago (gulp!) but if you go and look at Les' goals on YouTube you'll see that quite often the ball is bobbling around. He certainly didn't have great ball control but more than compensated for that with the pace, the power, the leap, the shot, the header, etc, etc. And, as I've said many times before, Les was well into his 20s before he started scoring goals on a regular basis and became the player we all loved. Lloyd has a hell of a long way to go still, but it's obvious he's learning and improving week by week. The coaching staff are doing a good job with him and the other young players in the squad.
