You have to ask yourself why we can't attract the best managers anymore too. They won't come here, knowing we have an average team. There is one set of people destroying this club. You have to wonder how we managed to end up with the worst team in the history of top flight football after spending more money on players than some of the teams above us. The recruitment has been shockingly bad.
But, the signs were there last season, when we finished 9 points behind Leicester and Ipswich, who both did the double over us, so we were probably the worst team ever promoted. |
You did not have to have a massive computer sized brain to see that we were already doomed once we'd gone up unless we recruited ridiculously well. The realistic intent from SR just wasn't there and still isn't. Feel sorry for Solak who seems to have been taken for a big ride by SR and is now looking a right mug. At least the fans can gripe and walk away if they want to without too much of a bank account disaster. [Post edited 19 Jan 15:19]

I don't blame Martin for everything, far from it (e.g. see the threads I've posted on Ankersen) - but you are sadly mistaken if you think the manager walks out the door and the result of what he's done suddenly disappears! It's the same in any organisation, not just sport.
Martin will get his share of the blame for as long as the players he chose/approved make up the squad, and as long as the players have the habits and fitness he trained into them. Next season will be squarely down to the new manager, whoever that is, but in reality, even then some of RM's influence will live on. | | | |
