Celar - Nothing Again on 19:17 - Oct 26 by HammersmithR | Celar is absolutely toilet. I can’t believe we have scouted this bloke. The bloke who signed him needs to be sacked. He literally does nothing as a centre forward. He doesn’t press. He doesn’t hold the ball up. He doesn’t run behind. He doesn’t run the channels. He never wins a header. I am at a loss what he actually does. It’s incredulous to think how poor our forwards were last year and QPR being QPR have somehow managed to bring forwards even f*cking weaker! And why have we signed so many attacking players who are all bleeding 5 foot tall! We are constantly outmuscled. Our summer recruitment has been an utter shambles. |
Some good points here, we have become Midget Park Rangers in the transfer window. On the Celar front says a lot I think when Cifuentes takes him off and replaces him with Bennie a utility player, expect that as suggested earlier Celar's agent should be scouting a return to Swiss football at the earliest opportunity.
Celar - Nothing Again on 23:23 - Oct 26 with 4535 views | LazyFan | He as very poor today. Forget the lack of touches, I noticed too many mistakes. He slow to anticipate a move. For example the ball was recycled back into the box to Cook who was free, while the ball loops in the air towards Cook we all know against the oppo fullback Cook will probably win it. But Celar still does not move and is motionless. Then Cook heds the ball, jus tas he heads it Celar could now wise up and make move forward to possible get on the end of it. He doers not and the oppo clear as once again he's static like Madsen. So, same as Dykes. Then there is lack of being able to hold up the ball which actually sometimes Dykes could do. So, he's worse than Dykes in that regard, in another way he's younger. Frey needed six months, lets persevere for now. But here is a radical idea, I would start Madsen upfront. Hes 6.4 and can pass the ball, I am hoping he can hold it and he's never gonna run back so, we know he will stay up front. Worth a go if Celar is not ready.

Celar - Nothing Again on 08:27 - Oct 27 with 3807 views | dutch | Is there a possibility we've been sold a ringer? How could this bloke have scored a bucketload of goals anywhere? Perhaps we got his brother or something, surely the Swiss league cannot be so poor that this charlatan was top scorer. i demand a DNA test.
Celar - Nothing Again on 08:53 - Oct 27 with 3744 views | QPROslo | Sadly I've seen nothing yet from Celar and now it's been a fair bit of playing time. I'm sure Dykes and Armstrong, Frey too come to that, would do of got onto the ball yesterday in their differing ways and caused Burnley some threat. Celar isn't big and doesn't even try to win balls in the air with his hight or physique as Dykes could. He is one placed and presents nothing like the threat, disruption and ability to get behind defenses Armstrong gave, plus the excitement totally absent in Celar. Fox in the box? Seen nothing yet, more an ageing female cat sleeping on a mat in the corner. I've seen positive attributes in all our 1st team summer signings, but nothing at all from Celar. Can only believe most Swiss teams are far weaker defensively than they are in the Championship.

Jesus. Explain how he is meant to get behind the defence, firstly as the lone striker with the nearest team mate 20 yards away, and secondly if no through balls are ever put through? It also seems that since Dykes was sold he has become this mythical figure that could do everything.

Dykes hasn't been seen as this at all. But he at least tried. It appears Celar does not. If he at least gave the impression by running around a lot more and going in for even just one or two challenges or attempting to get on end of a cross or pass forward, then he would get some time from fans to bed in. Occasionally Dykes had attempts on goal, put in challenges, closed down opponents, ran onto crosses - Celar seems to not even do any of these ever. Hard to watch. [Post edited 27 Oct 9:38]

Celar - Nothing Again on 11:34 - Oct 27 with 3350 views | NorthantsHoop | Says it all when he is replaced by Bennie an 18 year old utility player. Suspect that Marti may have run out of patience with Celar, although he probably has to persevere with him as money has been spent and the alternatives without Frey are to say the least limited. Still reckon we should give Alfie Lloyd, the lone striker role, while Frey is out, although Alfie is still a raw product, he has pace and a bit of physicality and the will to try and force the game, something that Celar totally lacks.
Celar - Nothing Again on 12:00 - Oct 27 with 3262 views | Pdog | Yes he needs to do better, and the way we set up is not doing our front man, that lone ranger far into the distance, any favors. If it really is Dykes > Celar, then why didn't we just go for a bigger, taller, faster, 1 in 5 guy. A unit to play off and get the team up there, & stay there. Some kind of ball retaining wizard. Kind of like a Dykes/Armstrong love child, unlikely to score but there for the greater good. A true altruist. I'm sure the algo filters could spit out a long list plying their trade in the lower leagues or European backwaters, even as a 3rd option, a 3rd striker you say? Absolute gluttony. In many of the scenarios we currently find ourselves (and set up) in, Celar is just not compatible. [Post edited 27 Oct 12:21]

I would like to hear from all the people who travelled up there including you colinallcars if he was disinterested or just marked out of it by PL level defenders. There is zero excuse for lack of effort if that is the verdict and all the more agregious knowing he is our only out and out striker with Frey out . It looks like he is not going to deliver for us at all right now and if that is the case we are in a pretty bad spot
Celar - Nothing Again on 02:30 - Oct 28 with 2523 views | numptydumpty | Play him in the development squad to see if he can contribute in games at a lower level. If he does nothing there, then you have an answer quite a few suspect. I think he is much better than he has shown but for me he just looks like he would rather be anywhere but here. Maybe he doesn't like living in England and wants out. That's obviously reading between many lines but that's the best reason I can give for lack of effort. And that's what it is to me. Lack of effort. I think he is capable of adapting a little. He is a professional footballer with some experience and also been an international. We are not seeing this at all. It looks like he wants out !! It's how it looks...

And it's looked like that ever since his first game for us. I think it's a combination of laziness and not being good enough which leads to the appearance of not wanting to be here. Better off dropping him out of the first team squad completely for now and, as someone else suggested, seeing if he can do anything in the development squad.

zero effort , terrible when the ball was in the air , wouldnt know a tackle if it bit him on the arse. as someobsy else said if he tried a btit even got a booking for a late tackle he would get some fans thinking , hes doing nothing to show any sort of commitment to the cause,

I think that is the killer point for Celar. Of course he needs time to settle, maybe he is short of confidence, of course he needs more service. But considering Dykes was slated for "being on his heels", this bloke is on his lounge sofa. I don't see why "needing time" means you can't run around, jump, close people down, do anything really. It would be better if he was missing a load of chances. Anything really. He's got to show!

Obviously we saw the clips of his goals before signing but I’d love to know if he was doing this stuff in Switzerland. Have we bought a player we knew offers nothing outside the box but decided it was worth it or is he a player who did that stuff and currently doesn’t for whatever reason?

Keep backing him though. Slagging him off won't do him any favours. But as per Clive's match report, just a bit of a running around might help his cause.

Some very good points especially on whether he wants out of the club and a life in England. Sometimes we have to accept that we take a job and it either goes wrong or it just does not fit for a range of reasons. I tend to feel with this one for whatever reason Celar does not want to be at the club and his displays so far tend to mimick this position. The trouble is that we have invested in him and the management just have to hope that something sparks in him either mentally, physically or even socially to up his game, but at the moment it is not happening. Probably be offloaded on loan in January back to the Swiss or comparable European leagues and then sold at end of the season.
