Definitely agree we should take all the gossip with a large pinch of salt.
However we do need to see a better strategy than last time. SR right got credit for overseeing our promotion but they also were largely to blame for our relegation through their frankly catastrophic decision making last season.
We all know how hard it's going to be and I think we are realistic enough these days that we don't expect to finish top 6 or sign players for 100 million.
But we would like to see that the club have learned their lessons. To be honest most fans could have told them that signing all those youngsters and players without any premier league experience was a recipe for disaster and we don't have the black box or any technology!
I completely agree that we need a mix of experience, youth and a core of players in their prime. Lallana is an odd one. He is 36 and a bit part player from Brighton. If he was 32 I'd be more enthusiastic but it feels more like a PR exercise that they think will please the fans. Similar to Walcott. He did ok at times but cost an awful lot of money and was supposed to be a role model and help the youngsters, and we still got relegated.
As you say though, it's going to be silly season for the next few months and there is no point us all getting bent out of shape every time we see a fresh rumour as most of them are nonsense. Let's see what happens. |  | |  |

Sport Republic got the decisions wrong in terms of managers and it is an easy claim to say that signing all these youngsters cost us dearly, but the truth was that the likes of Lavia, Alcaraz and to a lesser degree Bella Kotchap did well, it was the so called experienced signings that let us down.
Joe Aribo, Caleta Car, Orsic, Bree, Onauchu, Maitland Niles were not successes as we had all hoped, add to that the number of senior players already at the club who were poor and the issue was not that we signed youngsters, but we our experienced players fell apart |  |

Bella Kotcha is made of glass. His loan has been a disaster. He played 4 games for PSV then got bombed out to their 2md team where he played 3 games.
Most of the experience came in the winter window when we were already in trouble. I still think had we had a decent experienced keeper we would have stayed up. As i remember there were plenty of options that summer.
about 40mill wasted on Mara, Baz Larios (is he any good never seen him play in 2 years?) , Charles and Edozie are not good enough for the champoinship. Bar Larios all of had a lot of chances and need shipping [Post edited 29 May 10:58]

Ok but there have also been many young players we’ve signed that we’re also rubbish, such as Mara, Holgate, Maitkand-Niles and even the likes of Charles and Edozie, as they’ve all been pretty poor as well.
As really just a majority of our signings in general have been poor, both the young and the old. |  |
