Duff "Ultimately a decision will need to be made in January [at the end of his current loan]. But at the minute there's still a lot to do. He was one of the ones to come up the other day and he looked okay.
"But they all did okay. I think it's unfair on him [some of the speculation] and unfair on some of the others, because I think a couple of the others are probably actually ahead of him.
"They're young players. With social media now, you don't want him to go 'I've made it'. Essentially he's on trial and we need to keep looking at him. Keep putting him in the environment and ultimately we'll make a decision."
Oh really Levien says some thing completely different.
Not sure who the cynics are, the only cynical thing I see is the Swans not being able to get him in on a professional contract. Because Levien said so.
WOL - Fletcher maintained his scintillating run of form for Swansea's under-21s by netting a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Colchester United at Landore on Friday afternoon. The American bagged a double shortly after Charlie Veevers had given the hosts the lead, before netting again just before the hour. It's the 18-year-old's second hat-trick in as many games, and he's now taken his tally up to 16 goals. Nathanael Ogbeta also earned himself an appearance from the bench midway through the second half, before Colchester pulled back a consolation through Kaan Bennett.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
How can a pacey 16 goal player, albeit with the U21’s, not get a place on the first team bench? When you consider an opinion that the reason Yates is so useless, is there is no service into him. If that was the case, by giving Fletcher a chance, surely you would be killing 2 possibly 3 birds with one stone? 1) more balls into Yates to show his fox in the box skills 2) introducing much needed pace to the side. 3) He knows where the net is

Don’t get this one, what’s the point of him being here and getting game time if we can’t sign him? Are we just getting him up to speed for a return to DC ?

He was sent here to benefit Swansea. What is the evidence?
a) Duff has it within his remit to sign him on a permanent deal but says he is no big deal and behind one or two others. He is on trial.
b) It has been written Fletcher is desperate to sign for Swansea. (WoL)
c) He is in sensational form but Duff will make a decision in January .
d) Club insiders say he is not ready. (WoL)
We have been here before with intransigent managers. Levien gave Cooper, Goykeres and Gave Whittaker to Martin in January . They refused to play them preferring Lowe and Cullen. .
Levien is now giving Duff. Fletcher. He will not pick him. You can blame Levien all you like but it does not fit the facts.
Wise sage since Toshack era

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion he is on trial and not eligible.

How has he benefited US
He is being offered to Swansea city. He is on trial. Why?
Because he sees his future in Europe not the USA. He does not want to play in the USA. If he goes back he will not sign a new deal with DC.
Playing for Swansea would see him sign a longer 3-4 year deal and the "ownership group" would maintain an economic interest in him.
Swansea city cannot carry on like this with transient managers thinking 6 month ahead only. Duff might a have already lined up a loan player through his old contacts. 6 month deal then "I am off anyway". "They told me about those Yanks"
He will be going back to DC after this short development loan, not much point in giving him gametime over players who will be here for the rest of the season.

The official wording when he signed was a loan deal for the u21’s. I assume that means he’s not registered to play for the first team.
He has signed on loan for the u21s. Duff clearly stated they were looking at him and he was on trial.
On trial for what? On trial to become a permanent signing for the first team.
Duff is the cynical one saying there are two or three above him in the pecking order. Since then Fletcher has said "Oh really here is SIX goals in 160 minutes". Including one out of the Michu scrapbook. It seems to me he has passed his trial emphatically. Too good for the u21 at 18.
Fletcher went to Levien and stated he wants to play senior football as he has a ego and an ability to match his ego. Players like this are rare.
Watson is in charge of football. If you are so good find another Fletcher. The only problem they are all playing for Arsenal and only available on loan with big fees.
Swansea signed the useless Finlay Burns at 17 and Rhys Williams was not much older. Swansea have become a service company for the big clubs and fearful of breaking out on it own path.
