Stoke City Match Thread. on 15:54 - Apr 29 by Metallica_Hoop | Squib was a Goth warlord who attacked Ostia but lost and was last seen floating on a spar. |
My Harry Potter fan niece tells me that a Squib is the opposite of a muggle-born Wizard, i.e, a child born of a Wizard but with no magic powers. Even worse if wet then, presumably.
Stoke City Match Thread. on 16:10 - Apr 29 with 2338 views | BrianMcCarthy | Nice play by Dykes to get the shot off and draw the save, but really poor goalkeeping (thankfully) and he just parries it straight out to the waiting Albert. Lovely placed finish and in off the post.

Stoke City Match Thread. on 16:05 - Apr 29 by numptydumpty | Clear game plan to keep it tight and hope catch them on a break. Yes it's not pretty but so far, all Stokes attacking instincts have been snuffed out very well. If we had 75% possession and were 2-1 down, we'd be moaning so hope we can at least get a point. |
i think saying we're hoping to catch them on the break is giving ainsworth way too much credit... defenders and midfielders are so deep in alamo mode and the forward players are so isolated away from them that we're not really presenting a threat on the counterattack when we get the ball back the only thing ainsworth is coaching them to do is sit super deep and clear any danger immediately, with no regard for ball retention the only way we will score is randomly- a set piece, a second ball that lands in a good spot... this isnt like a mourinho or palace under pulis with zaha/bolasie set up where the team is actually good at counterattacking

I thought GA was pretty clear. He is playing this way to make sure they stay up, next season he will play it differently. Also yes, the counter is part of the new plan used the past 3 matches
