2 issues that need addressing. 09:38 - Sep 29 with 7149 viewsknocker

Before I get torn into, love the way we are playing, very optimistic. The 2 issues are the floodlights which I know has been a topic recently and also the loud speaker system. Last night there was a presentation on the pitch and at the time I did not have a clue what it was about. Sit in South Africa Road, not to far from centre and couldn't hear a thing . Has gone to pot.

So our floodlights have got dimmer during lock down? Covid being blamed for everything by our rulers so Gove can blame Covid for our lights dimming can't he?

Someone said to me that the ref for the Everton game (Friend?) said if that was a premier league game he would have called it off.

True or not I don't know!

Why would it be different for different competitions.

The lighting is what makes our football look so sexy. If you turn them up on full, you get an eyeful of Dom Ball, some Dykes and a huge Dickie up the back.

And nobody wants that.

(This gag was brought to you in association with the 1970's. The 70's: feel the corduroy)

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Every player had 4 shadows (probably a literary joke in there somewhere) which is always a sign of inadequate lighting.
I was going to start a thread about the pitch, but might as well bung it in here. It looked absolutely immaculate, almost artificially green (maybe the lighting again). Reminded me of our 'plastic' pitch back in the day. But I thought (similar to our artificial surface) that the ball was bouncing very high last night. It even bounced right over one of our players (not Chair!) at one point. I thought this was surprising considering how sodden it must have been. Any of you guys that were there notice that?

Oh go on then, whilst we’re at it. So sitting in the upper loft you can’t make out the tannoy. But the big screen when there’s a sub doesn’t ever display who is coming off and on anymore.. probably petty, but would be nice if they sorted that out.

...and there are blotches / pixilation in the centre of the big screen - not easy to read some of the stuff on there...

Can we go out yet?

I think maybe the club isn't spending anything on the up keep of the ground. We are slowly letting nature take over ! Attenborough might shot a programme there next season, the rewilding of Loftus Road.

AND WHEN I DREAM , I DREAM ABOUT YOU AND WHEN I SCREAM I SCREAM ABOUT YOU!!!!!

Just to add to the general theme of dilapidation, there was water running down the inside of the front of the roof on the upper Loft last night. Place is falling to bits.

There was a big drip falling in my lap in row B. In case anyone is remotely interested.

One of the posters on a Birmingham forum was saying the away end is the worst of all grounds in the championship. Another poster said we've a great ground which would generate loads of noise if we got more fans through the turnstiles. After the Everton win I was on one of their forums and they mentioned the floodlights been awful.

Could someone with the requisite skills do a side by side comparison of a Tuesday night game from a couple of years ago to the Brummie's match?
Just watched the 90 mins and it is shocking how bad/dark it is.

On reflection, getting Gretta Thunberg to redesign the floodlighting was dim.

Because the lighting requirements for clubs in the EFL are not the same as for the Premier. This will apply to FA Cup games as well as the EFL League Cup.

I doubt that some clubs in League 1 or 2 have lights as good as ours currently are.

My wife was moaning about the coverage on the Sky Red Button & how dark it was. I had to explain that this was due to our floodlights rather than the cameraman!

Can't hear anything in the Lower Loft any more either. Shame, as it was actually OK before.

Now the subs thing is 90% squinting & guesswork from me.

I've had a leak above my seat in HU for years. They've tried to fix it but say the stadium is now so decrepit it's almost impossible to carry out some repairs.

I'll very likely be using an umbrella on Saturday if I can't find somewhere else to sit.

That was not what I was getting at. What is the rationale behind such a ruling. The games the same, players and officials eyesights are the same the requirement to actually see what is going on is the same. While there is obviously differences between the Premier League and the Championship the light level is basic.

As I mentioned elsewhere; every time the rolling ads cycled through to the Asheville Aggregates one I thought one of the floodlights had failed. The light level in the ground definitely dropped, implying that the pitchside advertising is artificially boosting the Lumen level of the lights.

The grass is always greener.

It's basically about the broadcasting rights contracts. What is demanded by Sky etc in return for their multi million pound payments for the Prem.

Not very likely he would have made that remark publicly is it?

Also, as I have pointed out, the EFL DO have a standard to be met.

Referee, Observer and the away club all fill out various match report forms - IF a problem, surely someone would have flagged it by now?

Couple of points Terry - EFL run the Carabao Cup and the FA , obviously, run the FA Cup, so easily possible they have different rules.

League 1 and 2 - correct.

Championship is, as I said above Average Lux value 800/Minimum 500

Leagues 1 and 2 , its 500/300
