Supposedly bringing a guy with him from QPR called Matthew Gardiner.
Interesting reading from WOL, my concerns for the team are a replacement for Guehi at centre half, a creative 10 and a centre forward with a record of scoring goals to go alongside the potential of Cullen and Joseph.
If we ship Grimes out then a replacement would be needed but a Midfield 2 from Fulton, Smith and Walsh is a decent start.
I don't expect a big push this season but I think we can be competitive with what we have but there is a big month coming up with incoming and out goings....This is where Andy Scott and team management can pull together as there appears to have been a very poor working link with these 2 departments in the last few years.
I always remember that Frank Burrows used to get a couple of frees in during this time as squad/suprise ackages, players who were cheap in chance they could end up being good players(Clode, Wimbledon, Cullen, West) think this could be an option with 1 or 2 cheap squad player type. |

He will be asked to work to the same terms and conditions as 75% of the other teams in the Championship. Swansea best managers Brendan and Martinez and even Laudrup accepted money out must mean money in.
Nathan Jones, Tony Mowbrey even Mick McCarthy accepted these terms. He will no more "working with his arms tied behind his back" than them.
He also has a dozen highly talented prospects ready to take on board his philosophy. the likes of Cabango, Benda, Garrick and Brandon Cooper to name but 4. The brief is clear. As a cook he needs to make the cake using the ingredients in the kitchen not just go to M&S and buy a cake.

If Eustace feels he cannot match Cooper then he should stay as a number two ad lower his sight to a top job in league 2.
As a position for an ambitious manager Swansea is the ideal posting. Martinez, Sousa, Brenda, Potter have all used Swansea as a spring board. None of them had particularly great "support" or what I call it "money".
Potter actually wasted his £6-7m which meant he club was a little short at the end of the season. He lost too many games with the likes of Asoro, Celina, John and Mckay. Not one of them could tackle even a little bit.

Although Swansea got rid of some premier league players like Ayew J, Fernandez, Fabianski Clucas etc for good money Potter inherited some very talented players from the academy like James, McBurney, Roberts and Byers to a lesser extent.
Potter wasted £7m on the "non negotiable four" (Asoro, Celina, McKay and John) All were defensive liabilities. He could have bought ivan Toney for half this money for example and a goal keeper less flakey than Nordfieldt. it took him a few months and too many losses to recognise the value of Roberts and James and what poor signings he had made.
Buy that time promotion hopes had slipped way. He was unbeaten at home after the new year and the team found its groove. | |

Toney went for £5m 18 moths ago. Two seasons ago he was cheaper having scored less goals.
Potter spent £2-3m on Aroso when he already had Dan James £1.5m on McKay when he had Byers, about £1m on John who is a full back that cannot tackle and about £3m on Celina who is quite creative but one Cooper did not trust and sold.
That is £7.5m. Enough for Toney from Peterborough a good goal keeper. Keiffer Moore, if Toney did not fancy Swansea. His scouting was poor sadly. | |

Yes, that is what the reports stated at the time, Jasper, and Fulham’s interest was long-standing and genuine, although it’s unclear if they made it concrete and what the bid was if they did. They have money, though, so definitely believable.
Jenkins was still calling the shots at that point and Jordan clearly wanted out from the off, so he can take the blame for that one. Probably thought he could play poker with the pricetag, but that is always a losing game with a disgruntled player after relegation. Bournemouth tried something similar with Josh King only to see him walk away for nothing, and after paying his wages while sleepwalking through games for another half season, so I guess we should appreciate we actually got anything in return. I think and hope we learned our lesson there. When you need the money and have a player who makes it known he doesn’t want to stay, you don’t hold out for your ideal asking price, you take the best offer on the table and move on.
We definitely should have ended up getting more than £2.5m for Jordan, but beggars can’t be choosers and his market was rather nonexistent after his and Andre’s no-show led us to relegation. The Ayew Bros. are known money-grabbers, represented perfectly by Andre’s move this summer to Qatar after saying for years he doesn’t play football for the money. If only we could have gotten shot of Andre earlier, we could’ve used the fee and wages saved to bring in several players that would’ve offered us more in the long run. There were apparently offers the past two seasons, but he was unwilling to lower his wages and instead stuck us with the bill.
Highest paid player in the Championship, talks a big game, but consistently flattered to deceive when we needed him to step up. No wonder why he hoped he could stay on with us, easy money, little pressure and a wonderful place to live. Glad we stuck to our guns and let him walk. |  | | |
