I have a sense we aren't going to shift Ayew. With the 'investment' perhaps it means we can cover wages/bonus' till the end of the current contract.

Surely it's irrelevant anyway, there's been plenty of instances of players being used at the kit launch but then sold.
Ayew was our top player last season so they are bound to use him in the pictures but still, if we get an acceptable offer, he will be sold. Assuming he wants to leave, he might just decide to see his contract out and there'd be nothing much the owners could do.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

There are only two options. Give him a new three year contract on £2m a year. £6m over 3 years or sell him now.

Not many players of that class available for a £5m fee. Goalscorer hardworking good in the air and top class mentality.

If he stays Swansea lose the £5m plus pay £4m in wage (minus £9m) covering the £6m 3 year salary completely with £3m to spare. He will not be tied to Swansea and can go to a champions league club if they come in for him.

Or give him a free transfer, club loses the £5m transfer fee but saves £4m on wages. Net position is probably a small saving after on costs such as pension contributions and National Insurance is factored in.

Why would he take a 50% pay cut over 3 years. £4M for next season walk away on a free and get a signing on fee somewhere else 12 months from now, that's £6M in 12 months. Footballers are mercenaries we just have to live with it.

I dont think andre is that much of a pull to command a signing on fee these days.

I disagree. He is 30 and next June he will be 31 when he becomes a free agent. Transfermarkt value him at just over £4M. A half decent season with us and I can easily see him getting a £2M signing on fee and a 2 year contract on half decent wages.
