I keep forgetting how far Hendo is from the record(s) and after DDB posted them in another thread I thought I'd start this one to keep on top of how far away he is.

All-Time League Record: 119
Current Hendo Tally: 112

All-Time Overall Record: 129
Current Hendo Tally: 127

So to recap Reg never missed
they were all 40 yarders
up hill
kicking into the wind
With his weaker leg
back to goal
eyes closed
hands tied behind his back
Wearing diving boots

The good old days threpence to get in.

Hearing that we have offered Hendo a two year extension to June 2022 which has been turned down.

Anyone else heard this?

Sadly, I think coronavirus will keep Reg’s record safe if it means that Hendo is only contracted for the next 13 weeks.

I'd guess at him wanting a longer term guarantee for what could be his last "decent" contract, with a little lad and a future to plan for, cant really blame the man either

Interesting timing.

We offer 2 years or your free to go in 3m, when football may not be back up and running and teams may not be able to sign players, teams may be in real financial trouble, who knows.

I see it as a move to see if he is interested in negotiations, and how realistic they are, so we can plan ahead.

Praying Calvin is not offered a deal and that camps is talking to us about a new deal!

Hendo is interviewed in this article:

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english-league-one/story/4087111/away-from-the-p

Mentions his contract runs out in June and is unsure what is happening. If he has been offered a 2 year extension perhaps this indicates he will be thinking of moving on

Be fascinating to see if this novel situation cuts down Henderson's options.
Plenty of potential suitors may not have as much money available all of a sudden.

I can imagine this summer will include some bargains, alot of last minute signings and alot of players not getting new clubs.

Not sure where Hendo will end up. Safe bet would be to sign for Dale I would imagine.

Why would we offer him a 2 year deal when football isnt by the looks of it going to be played in front of spectators this year, why would we offer anybody out of contract a deal This was Andy Holts take on things this morning,we plus plenty of others wont make it that far.

Things have changed for sure ,saw James post below ,it makes my blood boil.
Henderson can spout all he wants on the internet ,its what the players do to help the club is what matters ,deferring wages is a bit of a joke ,its just defering debt to a later date**..If the EFL doesnt sort the wages problem out there will be plenty less clubs to worry about over inflated wages that is for sure.

** A later date that might never come ,cue bury

I suppose a deferral is better than nothing and helps with cash flow in the short term. Perhaps the EFL will end up paying a proportion of wages owed.

This has gone way beyond whether the Dale goalscoring record is broken or not

As you indicate, the survival of Dale as a viable football club, in a league of other viable clubs, is all that matters right now. Once again, it's a reminder that its the fans who matter in the long run, and we're watching every move

I dont believe Dale will be a viable club in Jan 2021 if the status quo is as it is now looking at the financial fgures for the past few years ,players salary has to be cut now and hard.

one potential outcome of this virus is that there will be lots of players out of contract due to the lateness and impact. this could see a flooded market, players will take lower wages, football in a way will reset itself... could be a blessing for the lower clubs like us
0
Hendowatch on 12:58 - Apr 27 with 2864 viewsisitme

I agree.

There will be a lot of clubs who will cut back on squad size and probably fill some of their depth with first year pros who will be cheaper. Many experienced players may be faced with a stark choice of, in some cases a significantly lower wage on a one year deal, or no Deal at all. I wonder if the situation will improve much over the next few seasons. It could give a greater opportunity across all leagues for younger, hopefully English players to progress.

Ifit means the number, influence and incomes of agents are reduced then some good will have come out of the crisis. But I am probably dreaming.

I would agree. There are too many agents who just look at money, often at the expense of their client's career. Obviously they will be some who are good and decent.

Interesting in the complex world of American Football contracts a number of players have recently agreed deals directly with their clubs without an agent, often getting extremely good deals. Maybe some of the brighter and more successful players may go down this route?

This is precisely what i mean by a reset of values in football

When there's talk of "SkySports money" or "BTsport money" in the media, what's really being referred to is our money, fans money, because the subscriptions from fans are financing a ridiculously extravagant lifestyle for the agents and hangers-on

It's got to stop, and now is as good a time as any. And if that means that players (at all levels) have to accept a wages system somewhere closer to the wages of the fans who finance them, brokered in a different way and with a commensurate acceptance of a less hubristic place in the wider scheme of things, about time

Then just maybe, local professional football clubs will be able to serve their communities without the ever-present danger of going bust through spiralling financial pressures, or falling into the hands of unscrupulous businessfolk, and we can all get back to enjoying football in the way the game was intended in the first place

I get the feeling that there will be a financial reset of salaries but it’ll be more by accident than design. Look at the Hendo scenario. 3 months ago there’s no doubt he was in a strong negotiating position.
Pre lockdown clubs, even some who were financially struggling, would’ve taken a punt on him knowing Dale couldn’t match their offer (Bolton)? As things stand now there’s little or no chance of a 33 year old being offered anything like the contract they would’ve wanted or expected. Hundreds of players already come onto the market at the end of June when contracts expire, that will be even worse now as squads will be drastically trimmed.
Add to that the likelihood of several clubs going under & the whole landscape is very different. The PFA in their gold plated ivory tower are in for a very nasty shock when real world financial pressures come crashing into their privileged world.
Owners whose other business interests are in dire straits will no longer be able to bankroll their vanity projects. The PFA will be facing some very difficult choices, making players at clubs redundant or, if they refuse, the whole club goes to the wall? It’s a stark choice thousands of businesses are facing & although football has largely been insulated from this, years if profligacy & mismanagement will come home to roost.
There won’t be much sympathy from me or many others, I’ve had the misfortune of a business going bust who I worked for, it’s not nice. Football has had a bloody good run but now it’s time to face the music. I just hope Dale can ride it out & emerge from this mess intact.

A couple of months ago, there seemed to be more of a view that the club was acting reasonably, given the tough financial situation. If that is the case, why are so many of recent posts pro-Hendo?

Two issues to clear up:

- What was the whole truth that Henderson says he was denied?
- Did he really first hear of his release via social media?
