What an absolute disgrace of a man,not only refusing yet again to wear a poppy, but now quoting a Bobby Sands quote about the abuse he was getting from supporters of both Middlesborough and Stoke.Shows what an IRA scum he is

I'm ashamed to be British to be quite honest. The way we and the Americans are treating and have treated the world is appalling.

That is my take as well Badlands, but it was more 'Welsh' then than it is now and that is my point as regards sport.

I’ve said this before and it stands repeating as you go off on another flight of fancy, hailing from Glynneath, Tramp, you’re about as ‘Welsh’ as a feckin’ Doner Kebab.

This constant, relentless mixing up of Welsh Nationalism and Communism, the tenets of which you don’t appear to have even the slightest grasp of, is akin to mixing beer with water. You just end up with a gallon of vapid, old piss.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Always found Swansea Proudly Welsh & British (City & Football Club).
Remember well the union jack coloured pavements throughout the Sandfields in 77 & 82, and street parties everywhere for the silver jubilee, royal wedding etc.

Also there always a huge military take up from our area.
You can be proud to be both.

Yes i recognise that snapshot in time.
The last part of ‘post war’, i think.

Its a very different city now though.
Self confident and welsh, both english speaking welsh and siarad cymraeg welsh. Both.
Plus more diverse, of course.

Just one Royal Wedding party in Swansea.

Swansea is increasingly Welsh first.
Likewise Cardiff.

"Swansea is increasingly Welsh first" what part of Swansea do you live in Kilks? because it's certainly not my experience.

I was born and bred here, and English has always been the first spoken language.

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Is the correct answer.

I choose to wear one, the next guy doesn’t and thats his choice.

And the next guy could be Serb NEMANJA MATIC, of course, who also chose to not wear a poppy for ‘personal reasons’.

Is there a thread for every player ?

Matic seems to be getting an easier ride than McClean

for those saying McClean should go back to his own country...... that'd be Derry which in your opinion is Britain right?
Catholics seem to be hated and its fair game but a Muslim player not wearing a poppy or Matic not wearing one doesn't seem to make peoples blood boil as much as a Catholic not wearing one

The history of Wales go's back thousands of years, saying English has been the main spoken language in your time stands for little.

Swansea voted for the Welsh Assembly in 97 and without checking I think Neath/Port Talbot had the biggest Yes vote in the whole of Wales.

In 2011 Swansea voted for extra law making powers for the Welsh Assembly.

Swansea clearly taking bigger and bigger steps towards total independence.

I voted for devolution in 97 and for full law making powers in 2011. I don’t vote Plaid though as a rule, although I have done in the past when no one else ticked any boxes.

It’s not something I think about. If the question is how I’d vote if there was a referendum on the issue, I don’t know. I don’t like nationalism.

I don’t agree. A decision on whether wales should be independent from the U.K. doesn’t have to be based on nationalistic or patriotic feeling.
