Following on from the successful ‘trainers’ thread posted last week, what type of socks are you wearing/wanting?

I’m a fan of the ‘happy’ sock range from John Lewis. Tough, stay in shape, keep their colour etc

These are a recent box set I procured, I’m wearing the polka dots now;

I think we might have jumped the shark here. Are things this desperate already? There's still play-offs to play!

Look at you with your posh socks, why don't you just go & support Fulham!

I tend to go for John Lewis.

Never buy the ones with different colours, plain black ones are easier to pair.

Agreed. I recently discovered Levi's socks which are by far the most comfortable I've ever worn. Unlike the jeans which are a bit shit in my experience.

Initially I was worried about splinters but bamboo socks are the best. If it ain't bamboo it ain't going in my shoe.

I can't wear socks with elasticated tops.
I get mine off Amazon for less than £1 a pair. They usually last about 18 months.

Thanks for this, I’ll check out TK MAXX.

Also got given socks called ‘oddities’ Christmas 2016 You get 10 in a pack, none of them match expect for toe and top of the elastic, you are supposed to wear them without worrying about matching. I’ve not had the courage to wear them yet

My 8 year old son has a pack of those which he likes wearing... if that's any help.

Searched in dozens of shops for a pair of odd socks (latest fashion) but no luck. So ended up having to buy two pairs of ordinary socks instead........

I've heard some other wealthy person say this, can't remember who. And socks always feel nicest the first time you wear them.

And when you do the maths, going with perfectly serviceable M&S almonds, it works out cheaper than smoking even just 10 a day.

Extremely bad for the environment if we all did it though...

Chris Eubank, I think. Might have been underpants, or jodhpurs, or monocles, though.

Ok. Thanks for the tip.

Just went to amazon, the pic looked good so I ordered a two pack.

Exactly the same price as 20 Bensons from Sainsbury's.

I still love 501s and 511 commuters, so disagree with your second point..

What an interesting thread. I never knew there was another place one could buy socks as I only go to M&S. I use them all the time, underwear as well, apart from the occasional visit to Victoria's Secret.
