When BBC Wales were showing Wales six nations games they did some cracking adverts for matches, the other countries seemed to take it all in good part except the English and they had an advert pulled, claiming all sorts, that's all it was was various people in Ireland, Wales, France, Italy and Scotland jerseys shouting England, street scenes, pub scenes, individuals, groups etc, then came the punch line, sub titles came across the bottom of the screen saying, sport is not just about who you want to win but who you want to lose also.

I want to beat the English,
I was at Twickenham a couple of years ago and some cocky English supporter starting calling 2 Welsh supporters in their 70s peasants, pissed up and really nasty.

Then again this happens both ways.
In 1989, my uncle was hospitalised coming from the game when two men attacked him from behind as he walked back to the train station. They hit him with a piece of lumber, and kicked him whilst on the floor, fracturing his skull, as they screamed "F'cking English Pr~ck" and other insults, before running off when a mix of both English fans and Welsh fans came to save him. He was hospitalised for 2 weeks, and was in a seriously bad way, and the odd thing was, he isn't even English, he is Welsh. [Post edited 10 Feb 2017 13:11]

Used to watch our games together ,not now as I honestly become extremely nasty at England rugby arrogance.

Perch, I watched Worcester play 8 years ago when Ruddock was coaching them and the anti Welsh bile I heard that day was incredible.
Even in the pubs ofWorcester I had a feeling of not being welcome.

Depends where you live.
In your suburban pied a terre more rugger buggers looking to keep the traffics down.
In the northern cities league is often the choice of the less urbane denizens you know down dare .
In the likes of Liverpool Manchester Leeds , the game will be overlooked by football.

I think when people refer to 'the English' on this thread, they mean the English rugby union fan. Make no mistake, we are the biggest six nations game for them. We dislike them arguably as much as the Scots do and have bloodied their noses quite frequently recently. May not be the case if Scotland were more competitive. Ireland and France just aren't as local. Paradoxically, bring Australia into the six nations and things may change.
I'm not surprised that the people in your part of England aren't bothered. Just as the Tarquins and the Henry's don't care about rugby league. |  | | |
