Our last few main strikers have had a key role in keeping us in the premiership:

Watching Danny graham for Watford he had something about him worked hard and a good finisher. Michu against Blackpool preseason it was obvious we had a natural finisher. Watching bony it was clear he had something about him but I wasn't certain he would score to go with his strength. Gomis I remember getting a slight knock falling to the floor clutching his face and siggy shouting at him to get up. Worried that if the going got tough he would want away - concerned he was a bottle job in a different way.

Kuqi I still have nightmares over that miss even though it was in the championship and as for schecter Vasquez and Ngog my therapy is due to finish soon. We have relied on one main striker far too often and for too long and have asked for trouble if one got injured or lost form.

Looking forward to seeing Alberto in action.

Good stuff. Well said.

Wouldn't it be nice to have Gomis and Albert.

Just checked the "Alberto Paloschi All Goals With Chievo (2015-16)" video that has just been posted on YouTube. Looks very promising - though predominantly right-footed scores quite a few with his left as well, and a good number of headers.

Seems to have a knack of being in the right place at the right time, when there is a rebound or deflection that comes his way.

As background information, I asked an Italian work colleague for his opinion of the player and the team (Chievo).

He said that Paloschi would be a decent if unspectacular signing and thinks he would do well in the Premier League.

Chievo are a team that have been punching above their weight for several years and (to quote him) "realistically shouldn't really be in Serie A". They've never had any big-name players and in fact most of the team are not Italians, but are cheap buys from eastern Europe and elsewhere. After struggling for a couple of seasons this season they are looking to finish safely in mid-table, so selling Paloschi to us won't be a big risk for them. They're funded by a local bakery firm apparently.

My Italian colleague said 'he will score goals but you will be unimpressed'

Kind of contradicts himself in 1 sentence unless Italians want something else from a striker.

An Italian Jason Scotland, perhaps.

Doesn't sound like it in terms of his style of play but fan reactions could be similar.

Give him six months and he will be deeply unpopular with the deadheads on here then.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
