Honestly I've been wondering why we haven't tried this for a while. I can understand that 18 months ago he would have been too expensive given what Blackburn paid and what they were asking for him but surely now is the time to test them and if he backs himself, the right time for him too. |  |

It does show there's a little desperation creeping in but if he's the best we can get, he will do. Is one of those players with the instinct to get in the right place at the right time and if you've got that, in theory you should be able find scoring chances at any level. Lineker had exactly that plus a decent finish and little else but scored bundles everywhere he went. |  | | |

I'd rather us spend money on someone who has scored goals in this country, who won't need time to adjust and who will stick around next season if we get relegated to be honest.

The reasons why nobody has gambled on him premier league level is because he has no pace and is very slight guy. He is just a pure finisher(Ian Rush/Gary Lineker). But we are not exactly a team at the moment creating those type of chances for strikers and there is no chance we would pay £10 million plus for. Nobody knows that much about him other than what they've seen on YouTube and Wikipedia. Unless of course they watch Russian or Swiss football.
Both have got good goal scoring records at what is probably quite a comparable level. Rhodes has 3 in 13 for Scotland whilst Duombia has 5 in 33 for Ivory Coast. Rhodes is 2 and a bit years younger.
I think anything at this stage is a gamble but whatever happens we can't afford anyone who will need a couple of months to get up to speed, whether that's the step up for Rhodes or the complete upheaval for Doumbia | | | |

imo not a player that can take the move up to the Premier and at £10m there has to be better options out there by paying a bit more.
