SWANS SIGN EDER? on 13:23 - Jun 27 by Newhousemustscore | I remember not too long ago having 4 strikers - Fallon, Bayo, Knight and Trundle in one squad. Most teams seem to cope? Didn't Crystal Palace have half a dozen strikers (Murray, Chamakh, Gayle, Ameobi, Campbell & Sonogo) last season. |
Aye, but we played 2 strikers in those days. Won't be doing that again anytime soon.
| You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help. |

Like JS said, we played two upfront. Two striking slots and two players for each. With half as many positions to fill you need half as many players to cover it. One first choice, one competition/backup and preferably a decent kid out of the development squad for emergencies. If Palace want the hassle of keeping that many strikers happy they're more than welcome to it.

Agreed. Playing a predominantly 1 up top formation leads us to have 2 players capable of holding down a starting role. Any injuries and suspensions are then covered by bit part strikers (Ayew, Emnes, etc) or an U21 rising star. Having a 3rd would simply lead to unhappiness due to the lack of game time.

Ayew may be many things next season but he wont be a bit part player. And not a striker in the true sense either. I mentioned before how the French scaffolders over in Germany a few weeks back were bigging him up. Ayew will be a first team selection I'm certain. And with Montero in the mix with whoever comes in as a main striker with Gomis ( or without him ) its Routs and Dyer who will become bit part. Exciting times ahead, and Ayew is going to be a big part of it.

It's a good deal for both sides, because you guys are left with a pretty good player and international Portuguese and by the cash inflow . for our president is very complicated refuse good offers like yours . The Eder just have to be more selfish and shoot over the goal and not offer much goal colleagues .

SWANS SIGN EDER? on 00:13 - Jun 28 with 3100 views | dameedna | Gomis Eder Ayew Emnes If Eder is signed we could go 442 with Shelvey and Ki holding down a 2 man midfield Ayew Ki Shelvey Montero I know ....what about Cork and Gylfi ...let's assume they have knocks, certainly Gylfi played last season when he should have taken a month off Ayew and Eder will make a difference

I said bit part striker not bit part player. I also think he will figure considerably next season, in his natural position.

SWANS SIGN EDER? on 18:58 - Jun 26 by magicdaps10 | A lot of Portuguese football fans are saying that he aint up to much and at 6M we have been done. Saying he is similiar to Bony but without the goals. |
So 23 Goals in 44 games is a guy who doesn't know where the net is ? On that basis, I dread to think what they'd make of some of the truly bad strikers we had here in the recent and distant past If he gives anywhere near that return, I for one will be thrilled

Dyer or Routs were level or ahead of Gomis towards the end of the season. Shelvey drifted a little wide. Borini is an example. Strikers don't like to defend but the game is evolving. Not sure if Eder can do this but Ayew certainly can.
SWANS SIGN EDER? on 12:20 - Jun 28 with 2557 views | Glyn1 | If Eder was anything special then he would have been in the Premier League 5 years ago rather than now. He looks as if he will be a useful back-up to Gomis but I don't see him being any real threat to him. Naturally, I'm hoping to be proved wrong - I often am.

That's handy, because useful backup to Gomis is what we needed.

But Bony is younger than Eder, as is Emnes, Ayew and Barrow. Michu was younger than Eder when he joined Swansea. Eder sounds like a decent buy, but obviously he won't be starting many games. [Post edited 28 Jun 2015 13:04]

I know I'm stating the bleeding obvious! It's an OK signing but nothing to get excited about. Is he a better player than Oliveira? [Post edited 28 Jun 2015 13:36]
