There is no such thing as a bedroom tax. There is however an end to people receiving a rent subsidy for a larger property than they need.

Shame that it's aimed at forcing people to leave homes they've rented for years and raised families in and move into smaller properties that don't exist in the numbers required to make the policy effective even isn't it?
If you're looking for ill thought out and spiteful policies, forget the mansion tax and look no further than the "spare room subsidy". But let's not worry about those affected and instead concentrate our concern on the relative few who may be affected by living in a property worth millions. Poor dabs.

As opposed to Tory policies where demonising the less fortunate and trite cliches about socialism are all the rage? Most of the bitterness in British politics lies on the right who remain convinced that everyone on benefits is taking the piss.
The mansion tax is fine by me. It's symbolic and will affect few. I'm not about to shed tears for the asset rich/cash poor. As Private Partz has already pointed out, no ne has given a sh*t about the cash poor/asset poor over this past five years. So I'm not about to shed any tears for anyone who may be eligible to pay this gimmicky tax
I'd also extend the franchise to 16 year olds. If you want up engage kids in their own futures, let them have a say. |

There may very well be some people badly affected by the mansion tax (I hope there is some flexibility to cover such problems).
But no such grey areas for the bedroom tax (which obviously does not affect people living in £2 m mansions). For example the lady who's son was murdered. She's now required to pay the tax because, surprise surprise, she's got a spare bedroom.

Yep , I was fed up of families with 2 kids hogging 3 bedroom houses too.
The government should've forcibly removed them from their homes and relocated them into one of the very few available 1 or 2 bed properties wherever they may be in the UK. |  |

As someone who works in a deprived area with people who are affected by a lot of these measures (I am not affected personally and I'd guess you're not either), I'd be interested to hear exactly which you think were needed.
I can say with absolute certainty that the changes to JSA (Work Programme and Universal Jobmatch) have been incredibly expensive abject failures. Universal Credit is on the way and I can promise you that it's going to be absolute carnage for many people. |  |
