It's unlikely to be overturned though - he hasn't even been granted an appeal as far as I know although a review is on the cards. New evidence will be required and advertising to remunerate anyone who wants come forward with new information can hardly help his case? As you imply, there are factors such as being assaulted in other ways, or by a number of people etc etc that will, of course, impact on the 'seriousness' of rape in terms of sentencing and so on.
But the reality to most women, is that the very fact of being raped by someone without consent is so appalling a breach of the basic trust between women and men (in that a man is almost always able to overpower a woman) that the other factors really do pale into insignificance.
Most women I know would rather be assaulted (obviously I do not include murder / manslaughter) rather than raped. And I suspect that the same would apply to men as well. | | | |

It seems to me you are at least partially conflating violating and violence, but this discussion is pointless in so far as your basic position appears to be that it is impossible to distinguish between differing degrees of seriousness.
