The timely return of Belokon on 20:17 - Oct 26 by ArchibaldKnox | Clearly you are disrespecting JG with that comment, B&E. It's a well-written article and in our provincial backwater, somewhat of a local scoop. Now, exactly how has Mr Belokon gulled him? Please do enlighten us. All that I have heard over the years from Mr Belokon has been proved true. Prem in five years? Three years. Actions speak louder than words, as Mr Riga has said recently. |
Fair play to Jack - what the Gazette should have been doing years ago. A real shame that national papers are showing up the local rag for worrying about their cosy relationship with the club. This story was ripe for taking forward but the Gazette seems incapable of following up a story. Be interesting to see how much of this story they copy and paste tomorrow.

Didn't Jack used to work on Vitals? Be interested to hear his slant on this and what he thinks potentially will happen.

"As I understand it, Belokon's claims are, which may be subject to legal action: 20% of the £90m income gained = £18m, plus his loans of £5m and the investment of £3.5m to build the South Stand. Total = £26.5 mill, which is the figure that has always been claimed. " Does make you wonder why it's taken this long. I get the feeling our Latvian friend may enjoy the limelight a bit too much and Mr Gaughan has played right in to his attention seeking hands. Really hope he proves me wrong.

'Can we have general agreeable that Belekon replacing the O's would be a good thing to prove this isn't a pro Oyston board? ' Well you get 100% agreement from me. Windy - I think the delay has been due to the legal proceedings Belokon has been party to in his own country, this must be the case seeing as the outcome of those proceedings came Friday, and he bagged 16.5million usd, currently worth just over £10 million. It makes sense to me, I was always sceptical of Belokon because of his lack of direct intervention.....now it feels like Christmas may come early

WindyMiller - I share your reluctance to get overly-excited at this news, but could the reason it has taken this long been that VB was waiting for the stuff with the Kyrgyz government to reach a conclusion?

Hasn't he received a big old pay out - people on Twitter were undecided whether it was £16.5 m or $165m - the latter would be rather attractive! I can't see this happening anytime between now and the end of the season and similiarly I wonder if it's another reason Karl will give for not spending the clubs money!

I am with you that if this does have any legs it will take time, but I think most of us can cope with that if there is a real chance of change and investment in the club. Whereas I argued against boycotting games because I didn't see the long term gain in that, and lots of short and long term pain, I would happily endure more short term uncertainty if Belokon taking over at the helm was the outcome.

A bit like when Belokon criticised the O's in the summer and told them to cough up the Prem money, it all feels a bit hollow. Why go through the press rather than come out with statement of intent? All hot air at the moment!

One thing that I did note in KO's interview is the fact that he revelled in the fact that Belokon had never made any approach or spoken to him about taking over the club. It must be time for VB to show his hand rather than make hollow headlines in the Mail!

The Russian-made aircraft lost contact with air traffic controllers and was escorted to Stansted Airport by the pair of Typhoons. Kent Police received several calls reporting a loud bang coming from the Dartford area at about 16:40 GMT. An airport spokesman said police officers surrounded the aircraft after it landed at 17:15. A blast was felt across the county, according to posts on Twitter.
