Harry on Talksport - Adel/Granero/Rio 09:32 - Jul 15 with 10364 viewsballbag

Harry was on TS this morning where he mentioned that he was meeting Rio today. He also said there would be a few people leaving, saying that Adel wants to go back to Milan and Granero to R.Sociedad.

Nothing new I guess.

If Adel & Granero want off then the teams who want them have to buy them.

Keep loaning players until there contracts run out means we get no fee.

i would prefer it if Harry kept his counsel a bit more on what players wanted.

if either of Granero/Adel ends up staying then it makes it that bit more difficult to become part of the team, don't think it does anything to stem the them and us culture that caused the problems first time around.

Surely he could answer by saying,

"you never know what will happen, obviously they have gone away on loan spells and seem highly regarded over there, but if they do stay then great news as they are quality players".

Seems to me Harry is more inclined to push them out the door rather than reintegrate - I'm generally a HR fan, think he's done a pretty exceptional job overall, but do think he has a bit of a blind spot when it comes to how good a firing Adel in a half decent team could be in the prem - i still think you could build a team around him which would make mid-table.

If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. PG Wodehouse

The closest metaphor I can think of is a classroom of kids, it only takes one or two disruptive children to completely change the ethos and atmosphere, others follow and the teacher has lost the class, no-one learns. Maybe it is the same thing in the dressing room, one or two agitators can wreck a team, so to have him back is too much of a risk. Additionally, he didn't last long at Fulham, maybe he isn't so good in the Premiership. I loved him four years ago, but perhaps it's time to move on.

rather than looking to get rid of Adel and Granero I think he is just pointing out how few players we have and that he wants more. I think everyone knows those two are going to leave this summer. Both very good players imo but Granero just doesn't suit English football and Adel needs to be playing abroad now imo

Anyone else sick of the media / supporter speculation? I used to enjoy it, and now it either depresses me or gets my hopes up for nothing.

Won't believe anything till I see a player in a QPR shirt, and even that doesn't mean anything certain (Stefan Moore).

Im sure he was exaggerating a bit, but if we are seriously down to little over '11 players' then we need to move quickly. He sounded a bit stressed over the whole thing, i hope the deals are close because regardless of who the signings are, we need some before the tour starts IMO in order for the whole team to be up to the same fitness levels.

Personally i think there is more to be done than many on here think. Yun has hardly been tested for us and needs a solid back up, likewise with Danny Simpson. Clint needs to be replaced as a starter by Ferdinand and Caulker.

The Midfield needs at least 2 in once Grannie has gone. Fer would do nicely, but im stuck from there onwards.

Upfront we actually look ok now if Remy stays, Bobby signs and Sigthorsson arrives. Although Harry needs to get on his bike and sort it all out.

pretty obvious from day one that HR has no time for Adel and after a few games he has no time for granero either, all part of Arrys plan to make them leave the club IMHO
why some on this MB got excited about both coming back and playing a part is a mystery , as much as I love Adel he wont be a part of things next year
Infact will eat my Underpants if either one of them lasts the season

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I agree that Harry should keep his transfer cards close to his chest until deals are done. It will alert other clubs to the availability of our targets and create issues with those unwanted players QPR fail to sell.

I disagree about Taraabt, who comes with baggage and clearly wants out. Building a team around 1 player (especially one as temperamental as Adel) is not the direction I want to see QPR go. As the Germans showed team ethic is more important than individuals.

Maybe he's trying to manage expectations of fans who see them as our dream midfield partnership next season, despite it not working previously!

As posted a week or two ago, can't see Harry going with too many players who were around when we got relegated last time

And in fairness to him he has only mentioned Rio as a "target" and no one else, playing down any approaches for Dawson.

It is no surprise to any of us that Adel wants out, he still thinks he is too good for us and wants to go back to Milan, so why even pretend he is going to be part of the set up and the same the Granero.

70% of the interview was nothing to do with QPR anyway.

But not just us is it?

Daily Fail published a club by club "Who your team is after" feature this week.

Yes I know its 90% guesswork but they didn't print "Transfers all sorted" against ANY team!

I agree with this. He should be stating they are back with the squad and until offers agreed are QPR players who need to show what they can offer to fight for a place in the team even if he has no intention of playing them. When building for a new season we don't want to isolate anyone as they may as well be put on the transfer list (does that still exist?).

There are no guarantees we will sign the players he wants, far from it so these are quality players and it's his job to get the best out of them and they would be excellent options who you'd hope want to prove him wrong and earn a shirt. Can't make it too easy for them, they signed the contracts, honour them. The way we are going SWP might get a game......

Re-integrating outcasts back into the squad is one thing, building the team around them is quite another. Besides Harry must consider the entire squad before considering re-integration. Does he risk damaging team spirit that he worked so hard to rebuild last season just to reintroduce 1 or 2 players? Judging by Hill's comment to Adel there appears to be a lack of respect and who can blame him after he and Derry had to put up with Adel wearing the armband and pretending to be captain just to satisfy his ego.

I hope one of the 'lessons' that we have learned is to stop giving players away and funding their wages!

Granero, Adel etc can all be useful squad members, so unless someone is willing to put up some serious cash i.e. permanent transfer or loan fee and 100% of wages - then we keep them!

Rio, Fer, Sigthorsson, keeping Remy and a left back would be a reasonable summers work.
