He's also Sixties not eighties - from the greatest period of British/world music, period. He was up there with the greatest ever guitarists along with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

Yes, he made music in the 70's and 80's. I don't think he has made an album in the 60's. I agree that he is a very good guitarist. I don't agree that Clapton is one of the best though. I think that You mention the mainstream names. To me some of the best guitarists are Pete Lesperence, Nuno Bettencourt, Poul Gilbert, Vitto Bratta, Steve Morse and Mike Slamer.

Some great bands back in the day there, pity we didn't really appreciate them back then, used to love Boston though and quite a few others.

There were so many AOR-bands in the 80's. The result was that many of them didn't got any airplay.

You are right about the Journey comparison. AOR music often had this tecnical gifted vocal, big choruses and rock elements in the music (like guitar riffs).

Giant was a great band!! More melodic hard rock than AOR though. I don't remember this song though. The albums "Last of the runaways" and "Time to burn" were their masterpieces, I would say.
