Appreciate what you're saying, but the date Yon Kippur falls on is something that can be controlled by those who choose to observe its implications to their worklife. It’s not like a wedding, which is set by the couple/family. There has to be a line somewhere, and it would put the club in a tough situation to allow him to go, as it would set a precedent for allowing players to depart for their sibling's weddings.
