Cup trip at Accrington postponed Friday, 24th Sep 2010 10:08 County’s Johnstone’s Paints Trophy second round match scheduled for week commencing 4th October has been postponed. The Hatters had been due to play Accrington Stanley away in round two but their future in the competition is still up in the air after they fielded an ineligible player in the first round. Accrington beat League One side Tranmere Rovers in round one although Les Parry’s side could be handed a lifeline back into the competition after Stanley played Ray Putterill in their penalty shoot out win at Prenton Park. Putterrill was serving a suspension after being suspended by Liverpool County FA following the red card that he received whilst playing for Halewood Town, but he played in the game which means that the result could be overturned in Tranmere’s favour. County’s second round match was due to take place on Tuesday 5th October although the fixture has been postponed pending a disciplinary hearing. Accrington have denied the charge of breaching Football League rules by playing a suspended player.
