The Hatters are being linked with a move for Preston North End forward Jamie Proctor and judging by his profile on North End's official web site we appear to have got ourselves a star of the future. Reports suggest that the youngster will join County on a six-month loan deal.

If this rumour is true then he will be a fantastic signing by manager Paul Simpson as we are fairly lightweight in terms of fire power with the start of the new season less than 24 hours away. Summer signings George Donnelly and Barry Conlon had been expected to be our first choice strikers this season and the arrival of Proctor will now add extra competition for places. The Hatters can also call upon the services of former youth team player Tom Fisher this season, although like most youngsters who progress through the ranks, he may be brought in gradually.

Jamie signed professional terms with Preston in January this year and made his first team debut away at Reading in the Championship, where he partnered Jon Parkin up front for the last 12 minutes of the match. According to PNE's official web site Proctor showed "great pace, determination, and creativity to show Lilywhites fans that he has a promising future" on his first senior appearance.

The 18-year-old has progressed through the ranks at Deepdale and his goalscoring return at youth level is fairly good as in 2008/09 he made 28 appearances and scored 15 goals. Last season he scored 9 goals in 16 games for the youth team and also bagged 1 goal in 7 reserve team appearances.

Hopefully the signing of this exciting youngster will be confirmed soon.
