Saints Reviving Interest In World's Most Promising Youngster Friday, 12th Jun 2015 08:26 by Nick Illingsworth
Saints are believed to be interested in taking Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard on loan for the coming season.
Real Madrid held off competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs including Liverpool, Manchester united & Saints when they signed Martin Odegaard in January.
However his time at Real Madrid has not been without its controversy with reports coming through of Odegaard's attitude & a refusal to train with Real Madrid's reserve squad, only joining them on matchday & indeed reports that he was even dropped from this team as his attitude was affecting the team performance.
Now Real Madrid are keen to get the 16 year old first team experience elsewhere on loan and Saints could be a big draw for them in that we can not only offer the chance to play in the Premier but perhaps the chance of playing in the Europa league.
In this respect Saints would be ideal in that Odegaard unlike if he went to the likes of Liverpool or United where he would not get in the first team, would have a genuine opportunity to do so at St Mary's.
But the big question for Saints is whether Odegaard would be more trouble than he would be worth, despite Real Madrid mapping out his career path to him when he signed, he or allegedly his Father soon became agrieved that this path was stuck to and that Odegaard was not given first team opportunities. If he fails to get in the Saints side then these issues could arise again.

The only reason we should show any interest would be to make the Scouse rush in and snap him up. His attitude makes him the perfect replacement for Sterling! Yikes! At least Osvaldo (unfortunately) showed up for training! Snubbed Zidane? Oh, this guy is a gem!
There is no way with their standards that Liebherr/Kruger/Koeman would ever sign this____ (fill in the blank).
Yes please. The situation in RM for MØ is not as tabloid as people here would like the situation to be. Only a couple of weeks ago, he was given his debut for the first team, and he did well.
Of all the suggestions above, being a lazy player is probably the least accurate. Part of his contract with Norwegian club Strømsgodset was that he should have no limit to how much he was allowed to train. He would be a great signing for Saints, and he would offer a lot of the attacking qualities that we are missing with SD and JWP in the #10 position.
i have to agree with hoppalong the story is twisted his contract at RM states that he will play for the b team on the condition that he trains with the first team. This has not gone down well with the b team players who train together all week and 1 has to miss out for odegaard which has left everyone in an awkward situation which is no fault of heres and more the clubs fault for agreeing to it without thinking about the pitfalls
Since when have Saints developed players for other clubs, no matter how good? That would be Wengers wet dream for Saints to make his players good enough for the PL. We would just be using up a place for bringing on one of our own . Won't happen ever
