The case is a bit of a pigs guts! The officer should have included all the evidence in his first statement and let the CPS have all the facts so they could make an informed decision. Having to submit an extra statement as part of the Victim Right to Review process doesn’t look great to a jury. Think she may get clobbered on costs though. |

Funny enough I went to watch the Wizards of Aberavon last Friday night when they played Newport, it was a decent game to be fair. The game was a Super Rugby Cymru fixture, for those that don’t know the SRC league was created last season by the WRU with the aim of developing youngsters to be able to make the step up to playing at regional level. Aberavon had a very young team which included a number of teenagers and players in their early 20’s, Newport on the other hand had a much older and bigger team which was boosted by at least 1 Dragoon first team player. If development is the name of the game, why didn’t the WRU mandate that match day squads had to have a wide mix of players for example, 3 under 20 players, 4 players aged 20 to 23 etc etc so that there was a focus on playing a developing youngsters? The WRU also cut funding to a raft of clubs so sustaining and supporting players is even harder. The WRU need to work with the regions and really focus on developing younger players. |

John Major ratified the Maastricht Treaty which introduced freedom of movement. Blair and some of his ministers made a mistake in not regulating the initial tranche of EU migrants, but any action he could have taken would have been time limited as the controls were only ever transitionary. Blair opened the flood gates, but the flood gates have been ripped off their hinges over the last 5 years with millions coming in over the last 5 years. We’ve been left down by numerous politicians, red, blue and a host of other colours. |

Absolutely, it’s good news and a positive development. As you say, based on the figures provided over 25% of those being deported are forced deportations and the figure is up 25% on the corresponding period in the previous year. That needs to be a starting point and the government need to build from there. I’m not keen on the idea, but in some cases it may be cheaper to pay people to leave as it will save on lengthy legal proceedings and huge bills. I used a solicitor last year and his hourly rate was £250 plus vat. Extortionate!! |

Absolutely, two of them together could potentially have complemented each other and given the midfield a better balance. |

I think there’s a lot of mischief making and people with agendas trying to make more out of this than there is, but anyone who thinks we can afford or should trouser up £18tn is mental. The fact that slave owners were compensated and the slavers had nothing was wrong, but what happened 200 years ago is long in the past and let’s be honest, as some have pointed out about the Roman’s, Norman’s etc where do you draw the line? The original 10 point plan launched by the Caribbean nations back in 2013, contained a requirement for a full formal apology as well as support for development and education. Having been to a number of islands in the Caribbean and seen the poverty a lot of people live in, there may be scope to assist with education programmes etc and even an apology because slavery is abhorrent, but that would be it. |

A lot of the stuff in the articles is not attributed to any particular sources and in my opinion is disinformation and mischief making from the Telegraph. |

Guys a block head and doesn’t deserve a role in public office. TBF to Labour, they’ve not dicked about and have suspended him straight away. If he’s found guilty, I hope his local party deselect him and he gets booted out of parliament at the next available opportunity. |

I’m going for 3 points. It’s not a great haul, but I think it’s where things are at. |

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8y28ny1n0o This is a significant development, do the findings of the medical committee, which comprises of eminent subject matter experts from around the world mean that Letby is not guilty and a subject of a major miscarriage of justice? I really feel for the parents/ families and can’t imagine what they must be going through. |

“Players that needed 18 months were of no use to him” - the average tenure of a championship manager isn’t that long these days so it’s easy to see why managers want the finished product. There are currently only 4 managers in the Championship who’ve been with the club for longer than 18 months. Cooper was given a brief and that was promotion while the club still had parachute payments coming in, unfortunately he wasn’t able to deliver and left. Maybe he feels he was left down by the powers that were in charge at the time. You keep going on about this, but unless you’re on the inside you don’t know what happened. Maybe Cooper saw enough in training to make his mind up. If Brighton had thought he was a £20m plus player why did they sell him so cheaply? [Post edited 4 Feb 22:28]

I’m not disputing that, I’m just commenting on what happened under Cameron and May. They also reduced the police establishment by 20,000 which is a hell of a lot. |

I’ve got no time for the guy, but on this and some of the other issues I have a little bit of sympathy. The way I see it is that there’s not enough cash to go round to keep everyone happy and lots of people aren’t getting what they want. Yesterday Drakers was criticised for not allocating enough money to address poverty, today it’s women’s health, the week before that it was local government. The bottom line is the pie is only so big and how it’s sliced is never going to keep everyone happy. Lots of charities ( who by and large do a good job) commission research, publish reports etc etc and they all have their own agenda which is to promote their own cause and generate more revenue. Personally, I’d fund the women’s health by axing the increase in politicians in Cardiff Bay, but the general point about people complaining still stands. |

I think you can attribute the blame for most of the above to the Conservative governments of Cameron and May. The College of Policing which is directed by the Home Office issued a raft of new guidance/directions called it what you will to Chief Constables about what should and what shouldn’t be done when dealing with various offences. A guy I know was a senior cop and had been on the College of Policing’s accelerated promotion scheme which, his view was shoplifting wasn’t something the police should deal with and that victims should deal with it through the civil courts because the police didn’t have the resources and it wasnt high enough priority - I get the resourcing issue but shoplifting is a huge problem and a lot of it is carried out by organised criminals and drug users who steal to fund their habit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42329124 |

The lowest number of points required to avoid relegation was 38 in 21/22, but that season 2 teams received points deductions so if we ignore that it would have been 48 points. The highest number of points to avoid relegation was 53 in 16/17. The average number of points required is around 44. |
