Charlie Kelman’s Leyton Orient
at 12:00 8 Feb 2025

Up against Man City in the FFS that was offside FA Cup. I prepare to stand corrected but I think Charlie is still our player but as I take as much interest in modern football players contracts and transfers as I do in mobile phone contracts I could be wrong. Either way seems like a good lad and having a decent season with a club I like so up the O’s!

Up against a central defender today in Ruben Dias who’s worth approx £75 mil … would love to see Charlie meg him.

(F)Arsenal

I’m assuming it’s Arsenal’s decision to arrange the 4th Round FA Youth Cup Tie with the Rs for Saturday 18th January. 5pm KO.

On the same day QPR first XI play away at Plymouth at 12.30 (Plymouth to Boring Wood in 2 hours for kick off?)

The disdain they show for their own supporters and youth players is even worse - the Arsenal first XI are at home to Villa at 5.30.

Why not play the game midweek like most clubs do? I was expecting the game to be at Boreham Wood which it is and with a bit of PR they could have got a decent crowd along.

I thought I’d accepted that money had fcuked everything up and I’m surprised I’m incensed by this. Clueless body-trafficking puppy-farm visit-Rwandacorporate-entity excuse of a football club.

San Mamés, Bilbao

For a mate’s 50th off to the Basque derby, Sunday night. Athletic Bilbao vs Real Sociedad. Plan to stay a few days, maybe visit Geurnica, and if it’s safe a bit of swimming off San Sebastian. Any tips from the well travelled and discerning LFW-er will be gratefully received.

Friday trivia. Who were the first foreign team ever to visit Athletic Bilbao? The year was 1913. The team was from West London, and they won 1-0.

There was an interesting convo in a previous (that I don’t want to bump up) about cutting down mobile phone usage. Anyway this made me laugh.

50 years ago today

My first QPR game. Away in SW6. Stan was the first R’s player I noticed. His performance that day mesmerised me. He had style, swagger, and the skills to pay the (bookmaker’s) bills. Every time he got the ball (I was in the Shed) the home crowd booed and called him every cuss under the sun - he didn’t give a fk. He was part footballer. Part rock star. Even before the first half finished he was my idol. The anti-hero. There were 11 (12?) QPR players on the pitch that day and I love ‘em and could (probably) name ‘em all but if there was no Stan there may have been no QPR for me. Stan was, is, and will always be the man 🙏🏼

Does anyway have any memories of the game? There’s no footage of it. I remember it being a proper humdinger ding-dong London derby. 3-3. Stan definitely scored. My (unreliable) memory tells me in spectacular fashion from outside the box.

Fifty years later and just another uneventful QPR day. Here’s to the next 50.

Yooo RRRsss!!! 💙🤍💙
