When did the dressing room split actually begin? 13:02 - Jun 1 with 3740 viewsBilly_Kershaw

Apols if this has been covered in other threads.

Hughes seems to be suggesting that the dressing room split had already happened before he joined the club. Presumably he is basing this on players like Barton and SWP signed at very short notice by Warnock? Seems a bit harsh. With the takeover at that time, Warnock had very little time to strengthen the squad at all, but had to do something.

Another Hughes smokescreen?

I think when we brought in the first wave on higher salaries it didn't help, but I do think during the Hughes era the real trouble happened as results when even more sour once he truly had a handle on the side, which was from summer onwards basically, it's incredible the airbrushing he (ironically) is using and how journo's fall for it ever time.

From everything I've read it started under Warnock when Barton, SWP etc were brought in and Hill sent out on loan, it then got worse over the Hughes reign with the french clique and then the mega wages etc and then a losing team makes things even worse

Let's not forget our first game back in the Premier League was a 0-4 loss to a team that went down and a bizarre win at Everton with Dave up front flattered our points tally and position in a period when we were mostly poor.

Truth is we weren't ready and have been poor ever since, regardless of who's been on the pitch and touchline for any given game.

Depressing stuff! With Warnock not being able to strengthen the Championship-winning squad, it now seems as though we were doomed from the start! It makes me wonder whether surviving last season was a good thing or not. It's been 2 crappy years which will take us longer to sort out.

Bizarre win at Everton? jesus, credit where its due... We have lost a lot of games through bad luck... So lets at least take one where we worked really hard for it
