Really struggling to understand the club direction of appointments with people with poor or lower leagues connections in the game. Bringing in coaches from lower leagues, appointing people without pedigree or know how seems to be all financially driven, a gamble, bargain basement types

Success in our history has always been about appointing people with pedigree, knowhow, people with connections to attract the right types of player:

Toshack - with his Liverpool connections
Flynn & Jackett - experience at lower league levels
Brendan - Chelsea, Watford, Reading connections
Laudrup - the Spanish market
Martinez - Spanish & Scottish league connections

We now seem tied to having a manger & recruitment specialist based on their knowledge of working in the lower leagues. Baffling

Not really baffling. We are too tight to pay the going rate for the players, management and admin to take us forward so the lower leagues is our market.

Its been mentioned on here a number of times previously maybe by you WR that investing in the Acadamy is a way round FFP.
If so would love to see us get back to Category 1 status and have a Director of football overseeing the entire set up.
Gareth Jennings seems to be a good fit in this regards..

We will be dreaming about signing Obrien
Sadly it'll be just dreams
He's going to change things for us
We've left it late to replace captain but surely now Williams can the light

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

We can only pay wages out of the revenue we take in unfortunately our supporters are too fickle to support us when we need support.

No mention of Potter, Cooper and Martin all from lower league who spent some time in PL after leaving us.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

The reason we are in the financial mess we are is because we have been very badly run. The £17.9M loss on top of £13.2M loss is inexcusable and that is with better gates than we get now. If you overpay on players, fee and salary, then bomb them out on loan you lose money. Pay compensation for a manager and after a couple of months pay him and his team off it costs a fortune. Plus don't start me on The money we had for Piroe paying off the charges instead of servicing the debt like other clubs do.

Highly expensive deals for players who barely play e.g. Pedersen.
Recruiting multimillion pound players that are nowhere near up to the required standard. E.g Yates.
The last 2 years have seen us getting far worse.

Yes but we were in the same financial situation we find ourselves now in , I believe our squad was built on lower league players without the rope of paying out stupid wages.

Agreed. They are out there, just need to find them and identify if they will fit our system, which hopefully is no longer solely possession based.

Took a massive gamble on Scot Sinclair that paid off, could have been a disaster too

If crowds were that important you wouldn’t see Bournemouth thriving.
Look at their attendances.
Also if we had a team playing like they did at Bristol yesterday people would return to watch us.

Fighting for every tackle and inch on the pitch .

Probably could have included Cooper & his England juniors connections Guehi, Gallagher, Brewster.

Potter never really had any connections with clubs in this country as he had been making a name for himself in Sweden. Hence signings made in his time were poor to say the least

Martin lacked connections unless you believe that Darling & Fisher to be big successes, though the one that got away (O’Riley) would have been the pick of the bunch.

As for Luke & the Notts Co guy possibly on the way - their pedigree is lower & non league connections with the likes of Notts Co, Swindon etc

it makes you wonder why Luke was unable to secure Langstaff in the Summer.

Grimsby or Notts County. Hell of a choice.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Do players want to move to the Swansea area or commute daily , leaving their families .

Seems some WAGs and other factors influence a footballer staying near close to London , Manchester and other big Cities with their pulling power , ie wages and shopping .

We can offer potential signings of the views in The Gower or a flat in the Marina .
Not enough it seems to attract them here .

If we aint got the money to get and pay good assets we cannot compete with the big boys .

That depends on where are player is in their life. A nice place down the Gower with sea views is a great place to bring up the kids.
It's not so great for single guys looking to be out in the big cities on the weekend.

Quite simply we were not prepared to pay him the salary he wanted as Millwall have. Some 13k a week.

We only do cheap. And hopefully now in the summer we will see the results.

If we have a sensible head advising Coleman that is.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

1 goal and 2 assists in 28 matches, seems like we dodged a bullet if i'm being honest.

Was never in our plans. Board didn't think he was good enough and saw no value in signing him

Yes but Rodgers had very little experience, he had no poedigree.

Likewise Martinez, he was a massive gamble at the time, totally left field I seem to remember.

Then haven't we taken gambles on players plenty of times. When we scouted at Terrasa, it wasn't to watch Rangel, point being that there can be bargains in the lwoer leagues home and abroad.
What is most important is having a coach capable of getting the best out of his players, we haven't had one of those for a while. LW does seem to be an almost carbon cooy of Russell Martin, he mostly sticks to one way of playing. I'm just hoping he's learned his lesson. Because "prescribed" training sessions, predictable subs and predictable football are easy to overcome.
