The problem is, as it was a problem when they finally decided to dispose of Ralph is that, they do it without planning a proper replacement. After Ralph it was Jones and Selles. This time it is Juric. But how many of us really knew who Juric was? What evidence was there that he would be better than what we had? I don't blame Juric but suddenly the style is changed with players that had been drilled to play a certain way for ages at a time when the team is rock bottom.
The people running this club seem to be a mix of inept and incompetent.
The players don't seem to be able to play any style - is it simply they are not good enough or is it simply they have now given up. It is a complete and total mess and we know now that we will be the team with the lowest points total ever and possibly the worse goal difference. When it comes to making bad records we appear to be adept at it. | | | |

If the new guy had come in altered the method of play and got some results then I would agree with you.
He has altered the method of play and the results haven’t changed which indicates to me that the players Sports Republic assembled simply aren’t good enough.
Because of this Martin’s C V is intact going forward and he will have no trouble whatsoever in obtaining another appointment as a manager. | |

I agree. He got out just in time to save enough of his reputation for another crack at a Championship job. If he'd stayed until the end of the season, it would have been too late. The best he could have hoped for then would have been a lower league job. Right now, he's probably the happiest man connected with Southampton Football Club this season, and very relieved that we didn't leave it any later to sack him. [Post edited 4 Jan 20:30]

3. Granted some strange selections but which managers don't have strange selections. we don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes.
4. Brentford are an excellent team that have been well managed, as has the club, over the last few years and much better than we are; they previously had 3 away wins when we have none with one home win. Saints have the worst home record and the worst away record.

Totally agree. He needs time.
He has inherited a load of average players, and loanees that need to be shipped out. Juric has nothing to lose and can afford to upset some of the so called senior players who are not performing.
The team looks like they are knackered and so unfit. That can't be Jurics' fault ? Brentford are not the best team around, but they showed, unity, determination and ability to just keep going. They just carved us open so easily.
Would I want to go back to Russel Martin and 'Rusty ball' - no. All I ask is for the team to show a bit off effort, out the cray mistakes and show some pride. If they can't do that, just drop them and put some of the reserves out. | | | |

Russell Martin was removed at least 6 Games too late. He blew automatic promotion last season with poor team selections, and poor game management, and substitutions. We knew we were finishing 4th, weeks before end of season, despite his tactics of suicide football.
He got lucky playing Leeds in the play off final. Leeds were a totally demoralised team, having blown 2nd place so late in the season, and they never recovered.
True, a lucky Win at Wembley was absolutely amazing, and I was as pleased as any other Saint to have gained promotion.
I always thought that if he insisted on playing his brand of football in The Premier League, we would be in trouble.
Sadly, Martin 'killed' our Season as early as December. Whoever came in to replace him has/had NO CHANCE of keeping us up.

Initially I liked Juric. But results dictate. We just needed an experienced PL manager like David Moyes or Potter. But firstly they wouldn't come. Nobody would work for these pathetic owners at a club in chaos. Secondly, the players are so poor, I am not sure if anyone could.make a difference.
