Ruud van Nistelrooy has left Man United. We need to get him right now before another club does. .

Poll: Who will win the Premier League this season?

Would he want it? He's at leaset done what Ten Haag couldn't do so he probably thinks he's above a struggling crowd like our lot!
And I see Lamaprd Jnr is favourite to take over Coventry living off his name rather than success stories

Ordinarily no, but right now, he probably would. He'll be itching to prove himself managing another Premier League club and he might just jump into the first one available. Obviously, in the long-term he wants to manage Man United but that's not going to happen for a few years and managing another PL club now will help him fulfill that ambition.

We need to strike while the iron is hot because almost any other PL vacancy that crops up later will be more attractive than this one.

I hope we don't dither until it's too late and then finally replace Martin with another mediocre Championship manager, which is what Ankersen's record so far suggests is more likely to happen.

Yes he will probably itching to manager a Premier League club, but he doesn't really have the track record, a lot of academy coaching and a few stints assisting the Dutch international side, but only one season as an actual head coach, at PSV where he resigned after one season citing a lack of support.

I have resigned myself to the fact that if they were going to make a change in this break they would have made it now either on Sunday or yesterday. We can bring up as many names as we like but I can't see anything happening - unless in true Southampton form the board are just taking their time!!!!!!!

Agreed.

He'll score more than Shite Paul, the Crock Ness Monster, the arrowless Archer and the fake Chilean combined.

We will wait until all the best Managers/ Coaches have been snapped up by more ambitious clubs.
Then SR will have an excuse for not getting a decent one & we'll end up with another cheap option from a lower lge.

What an hilarious thread.

Why would VN want to go to a small club who don’t have any decent players whose owners don’t want to spend serious money on players who can score goals, and who will almost certainly go down, even with a bit of a late rally.

He has already proved himself in a decent league and will be wanting to move to a decent sized club, perhaps in the PL when he gets the chance, ie a club the size of Everton, Villa etc or a similar sized club on the continent.

Joining Soton would be a lose lose situation for him, and would just diminish his standing and opportunities for a club that can challenge for trophies or Europe.

A ruud awakening indeed for some of your fans.

Not for me as too inexperienced, would rather they try for Ole Gunnar Solskjær who’s not managed since late 2021 and hardly anyone is talking about. With over 150 EPL managed games and +50% win rate, I think he’d be cheaper than Potter, Moyes or Southgate and might be worth a punt.

We need someone who knows about small clubs, not Man U. Someone who can take small club players, who aren't world class, and create a team that is more than the sum of its parts. Potter and Moyes have both shown they can do that, but are unlikely to be interested. Ruud only ever played and coached at big clubs for their country. OGS is much the same.

A more likely route is a foreign manager with a brain and a gameplan that works for lesser players (i.e. not possession ffs). Someone like Iraola but who could be persuaded. I'm not holding my breath, I think we'll be stuck with RM until it's too late. If we bring someone in to change the gameplan it will take a while. That's what happened with Iraola at B'mouth. So delaying the decision as they seem to be doing probably puts the seal on relegation.

We needed to move fast. As expected, he's gone for the first job available, which, could have been Southampton:

"Ruud van Nistelrooy has applied for the Coventry City job - less than a week after his Manchester United exit."

Sports Republic have done nothing in the first week of the International Break.

Why on earth would anybody think that they will do anything in the second ?

We are to all intents and purposes we are relegated and they don’t have the money to make a change.

Coventry have picked the perfect time to recruit a new manager. They've got Ruud van Nistelrooy, Lee Carsley etc to choose from now. In January and even more so in the summer, there would be far too much competition for managers of that calibre.

We all know the prem isn’t for your lot 130 you’ve already proven that. Bless ya. At least we’ve given it a good shot over the years finishing top 8 including 6 th 4 years running. I wonder how your lot would get on up there now with all the money involved and without cheating. Not that we’ll find out anytime soon eh ?

Wow, you finally got 4 top 10 finishes in a row, something we achieved years ago, and more than once. Its probably the biggest acheivement in your clubs lifetime.

See if you can finish top 5 next time you visit the top league. We know you achieved it once, but see if you can achieve it multiple times, and then your club will have moved up to the next level on the achievement chart.

As usual you completely miss the point. Today’s game is completely different with the money involved. Answer the question how would you get on today in the premier league ? The fact is you’ve been so irrelevant the last 50 odd years and you had to cheat to win something funny how you completely ignore that. Anyone can cheat to win ask Man City

I also said four consecutive top 8 including 6 th not top 10 finishes Something you’ll never see in your lifetime in the top league and you know it. And I’ve seen us finish 2nd in top league yet again something you’ll never see in your lifetime. All you’ve got is your history books. Two of your trophies were nearly 100 years ago and you still bleat on about it. Tinpot

The last time we were in the PL, we had two top ten finishes and won the FA cup, with another Final appearance, all before the plug was pulled. However, that achievement alone is more than your club has achieved in its lifetime.

If you are having issues with top 8 versus top 10 finishes, then lets call it as it is: Pompey have had 5 top 8 finishes in their top flight history, something you will never ever see.

One of our trophies is 85 years old, one of our trophies is in this century, but your only trophy is almost 50 years ago. Were you actually old enough to understand what happened on your families’ black and white TV?

Thank goodness for the last century, otherwise you wouldn’t have anything to feel content about, and you would spend even more time going on about your massive top 8 finishes.
