T'2024 India Tour 12:53 - Jan 22 with 7353 views | D_Alien | The first test gets underway on Thursday, but as things crank into gear the emphasis seems very much on things being cranky https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68054608 Stokes looks to be fit after his knee surgery but still not fit to bowl Brooks has returned home for personal reasons (may rejojn the squad later) Visa issues preventing the full squad from assembling Meanwhile. Kohli also missing the start of the series for personal reasons India haven't lost at home since we beat them in 2012, and we've been thrashed there on both subsequent tours. No idea how things will pan out

Good effort from England in that first session, a first innings score of 250 will be very competitive on this wicket. A wicket that is already turning like its the fifth day of the test match.

215-8 at tea, so not far off your target and Stokes still there Good first knock from Hartley, in the conditions

Starting with a rooky spinner on his debut, not the smartest bit of captaincy. The bowling's been atrocious, so have the field placings. [Post edited 25 Jan 10:05]

Seemed like a questionable decision at the time the teams were announced. Although the pitch is turning a lot already, would have thought that Leach and Ahmed supported by Root would have been a sufficient and well balanced spin attack. Was expecting the steadiness and accuracy of Robinson/Anderson to back up Wood and help to dry up the runs, particularly as Wood is injury prone and can only bowl in short bursts, and Stokes is not fit to bowl. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Too easy for India, England bowlers unable to put any pressure on them and conceding too many runs. Root and Leach been the most threatening but under used by Stokes. [Post edited 26 Jan 6:40]

They have some good young cricketers the Windies but they soon start to prioritise the short game in order to make big bucks and their Test team suffer.. Michael Vaughan came up with a interesting concept last week that might be worthy of further consideration. Set a window of three or four months of the year aside purely to play Test Match cricket, all International teams involved. Not sure how the logistics of that would work when you factor in the different time zones, weather patterns etc, but it would put the focus entirely on Test Match cricket.

lucky to find two months given the increasing number of T20s. And you would need one in northern hemisphere and another in south but it could work. Until India decide they want to encroach on that.

Great effort by England. It's a pity we have a weakened bowling attack but if we can get a couple of early wickets you never know. Open the bowling with Wood and Root would be my preference, hopefully Hartleys batting heroics will give him confidence with the ball and he can put up a better show. In the meantime the Windies are on the brink of beating the Aussies.

T'2024 India Tour on 12:07 - Jan 28 with 4157 views | isitme | What a turnaround. After looking out of it after day two, two excellent days. A statement innings by Pope and Hartley from his first ball in test cricket going for 6 to getting 7 wickets and two valuable contributions with the bat. Isn't test cricket great.
