Hornets postponed game v Skolars now set for wednesday week. That means there will be games on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday. Lets hope the weather is kind….the pitch is looking good…it would be a shame for combination of bad weather and over use to undo the hard work thats gone into it.

Rochdale Hornets lost £136,706 in the period 1st December 2021 to 30th November 2022. They played 13 games in all competitions at Spotland during that time.
This was prior to the current season where only 9 games have been played in all competitions at Spotland and after the cuts in central funding from IMG.

Though just over a year ago we “significantly” increased our budget for last season when the club had “a stable financial platform and cash reserves to be well positioned for next season”, a season we finished bottom of the Football League.
In the past we’ve succeeded in leagues against clubs with resources that are way bigger than ours, and we’ve started this season solidly despite the well known financial restrictions the manager has spoken about.
It’s back to the point earlier in the thread and elsewhere: having money helps in sport, but at Rochdale it has never been vital in how we perform on the pitch. It’s a tedious narrative Dale fans don’t want to hear. I’m really hopeful that this campaign can illustrate that again, in fact it’s enjoyable watching McNulty finding solutions with what we have rather than seeing too many players join, with far too many sat in the stands. It’s on Hornets to find a way to do similar.

Case in point: Max Taylor. He has the makings of a decent CB but till coming on as sub last Monday couldn't get a game. Sat on the bench, the splinters in his arse showed when he made it onto the pitch. He's better than that, but having squad players sitting it out for long periods doesn't bode well when suddenly required to get up to speed in a tight game (until Hendo scored) With a bigger squad, you could multiply that factor. Plus, we can't afford it

Based on those financials on 30th November 2022, Rochdale Hornets had just £12,292 of cash where there was then no rugby until the end of February and just 9 games in 2023 at Spotland from February to August 2023 with a modest average attendance, aside from the Oldham derby game.
The main asset on the balance sheet is £64,999 of goodwill being written off over five years and "other creditors" of £49,785 which is likely to be some form of loan(s).
The financial future for Rochdale Hornets looks very bleak if they are losing approximately £2.5k per week as suggested by those accounts on crowds of under 500.

London Skolars have now announced their intention to withdraw from the RFL in 2024 and play in a local, regional league instead. That doesn't mean much of a fixture list for Hornets next season unless the authorities have something up their sleeve.
Apparently there were over 1000 at Mayfield this afternoon for their playoff game versus Siddal. Fair play to them if that’s correct. That’s a “gate” some professional clubs dream of these days.

I went down to watch the game today at Mayfield, a superb set up and a Very decent vocal crowd, took my young lad for his first taste of live sport and he absolutely loved it, along with everyone else there it seems, the effort the lads put in is phenomenal.
It's everything a local club should be, first class.

Odd how you think folks who support BOTH our local professional teams are borers. Given the sad state of both clubs at the moment partly to do with leadership issuesat both, the last thing we need is bitterness between the clubs and their fans.
