FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 133946 views | Snipper | I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((. I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form. I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing. Do any of you think England have a chance?

Why was Neuer trying to keep his hands away from the ball?
FIFA World Cup thread. on 15:26 - Nov 23 with 2674 views | Toast_R | Germany seem to be where England were 12 years ago. Relying on players well past their best with and a bit of an arrogant attitude in that all they need do is turn up. If you can't score goals you're going to struggle if you're wide open down the other end. Can't say there are any German players bar Rüdiger out there today who'd I'd have in the England team. I thought the young kid Musiala who played for England until last year was really good, just needs to add a bit of composure to his finishing.

It was a bit strange that Neuer made a couple of big saves only to be beaten at his near post without looking like he was actually trying to save the shot. [Post edited 23 Nov 2022 15:42]

So strange. Not only did he have his hands but his side like a full back, but he didn’t take a step towards the ball and turned his head away from it.

I see he is another that spent years in the ch*ls** puppy farm. Moves back to Germany at 16 and within a year starts playing regularly for Bayern Munich. [Post edited 23 Nov 2022 15:51]

Hadn’t realised that he was at Chelsea. That’s actually quite funny as he looks the real deal. Imagine if England had him next to Bellingham and Haaland up front. What could have been. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How is Hudson-Odoi (sp) doing over there? I think BM or Dortmund were after him; he chose to stay at Chelsea; and then seemed to go nowhere. If memory serves, he'd got into the England set-up too. Given how Sancho has gone into reverse since returning I wonder if Bellingham would ve better off staying there.

FIFA World Cup thread. on 14:19 - Nov 23 by Northernr | Loads and loads of factors to it. When I was playing junior football everybody wanted to play up front. You speak to people involved in our academy now they tell you "everybody wants to be 'a ten'". |
One up front has seen off the majority of centre forwards, somehow supposed to hold up, score goals and do it all on their own against 2 maybe 3 CB’s. Thankless task for most.

I thought Argentina looked good. In a VAR free tournament they would have won 4-2.

They'll still be a big threat, they should still get through, Mexico and Poland didn't look all that
FIFA World Cup thread. on 18:11 - Nov 23 with 2090 views | hubble | Spain look very tasty. I can see us meeting them in the final, should we get that far. A couple of games aside, I'm really enjoying this world cup thus far, but as always in football, it's the schadenfreude that really delivers; Japan humbling Germany was extremely enjoyable, as much as the Saudis beating Argentina.
