State of the pitch 14:18 - Aug 1 with 5158 views | swisscottage | At the Palace match ( From SAR block B) it was very noticeable how threadbare the 5 yard strip of pitch by the touchline was. I was shocked given how good the summer has been with no hosepipe ban. Anybody got any information about the pitch, (when was it laid, when's it due to be relaid). One of the things with the new training ground was that the type of pitches and the pitch dimensions were supposed to be the same as Loftus Road, but if the pitch is as poor as it appeared to be at the Palace match, I'm just wondering how relevant that is. Thoughts?

We've had a really severe drought in London this year, grass loves rain and it's not really possible to replace normal rainfall with watering.

Never once heard a complaint about leg room.

I was at Sutton United on Saturday - pitch was immaculate. Ditto Brentford and Southampton for the Womens' Euro games during July.

Oh I don't know about that. My neighbour seems to have a great summer with his grass - the aroma as he spends all day "burning" it tells me his supply is rich and endless

I play cricket in Victoria Park and the outfields are insane. Basically zero fielding to be done cos if it ain't straight at you, you aren't getting near it. Was at full speed chasing the ball on Monday, but the ball was still accelerating when it got to the boundary, felt like a Looney tunes character
