Guehi and Rodon will be our centre half partnership next season unless Rodon goes. There was talk of Guehi being a 16 month loan deal.

He's probably required to play Guehi a certain amount of times, but Japser is right about Wilmot. At the fan forum it was mentioned that two CBs were carrying "more than niggles". So it excludes VDH and Rodon because they were definite injuries. It meant two out of Wilmot, Cabango & Cooper were carrying injuries. Hence Cabango also not playing against Preston. Cooper couldn't rest either of them until recently because Guehi had only just arrived at the club, and Rodon was injured. So essentially it's killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Play Guehi and rest players with slight injuries.

I've read that we have an option to extend Guehi's 6-month loan by 12 months. And that we most likely will extend it.

Wilmot is far better than Guehi in my opinion and any clause that means Guehi starts ahead of Wilmot is one that shouldn't have been signed.

With all them clubs interested we need to be asking for a lot more than the 20 million being touted.

99% of clubs are selling clubs.

We have always sold, but now we sell anything that's not nailed, screwed, and bolted down. Other clubs know that.

Nothing wrong with being a selling club, as long as we are the one's getting the better end of the deal. Sadly we prefer to bend over to whatever the buying club wants We need to look at how in demand young British centre backs are, and ensure that whoever signs him has had to pay well over the odds to land him

Now several websites are writing about Rodon being linked. They're loaded to the max, so we should set the starting price at 30M. He's contracted until the Summer of 2022, so clubs will have to be prepared to pay big. As sad as it would be to see him go, if we can get a huge fee for him leaving then it needs to be done. The 'black hole' excuse wold be shut down for good, the academy could stay as Cat 1 for years, and Cooper could have a spending budget for once. Norwich were a club similar to us. Spent too much to try and stay up, went down, and had to sell their best 2 players for a combined 30.8M. The following season they finished 1st.

We got £45m for Siggy, yet we still have to sell and sell. I cannot see the Rodon money solving things. Ideally about £10m of the Rodon money goes straight into tbe first team. Without that, its difficult to see any way to progress ...? I think a winning first team is our priority right now, and next year is the last year of parachute monies.

But we bought Ayew for 20M, Clucas for 15.5M, & Bony for 12M just to name a few of our outrageously expensive signings. That instantly wiped the 45M. And then we bought more and more. All problems at the club will be solved if we spend the Rodon money wisely. When the 3rd parachute payment is added, that's 45M coming in hopefully (15M + 30M). Ideally as you say we can invest a good amount in getting new players (permanent signings hopefully), while also having enough to cover costs. [Post edited 6 Feb 2020 9:44]

The £45m (minus' Spurs cut and Gylfi's "loyalty" payments) went towards Clucas, Bony, Mesa, Sanches, Abraham, Harries and then Ayew in January. No mystery why it didn't make us rich. Can't imagine it's easy in this league to spend £10m on players and not have your wage bill shoot up significantly as well, especially when replacing a local academy boy on a fair contract.

A total clusterfack of a season wasn't it. Arguably Konck's terrible decisions that season were worse than the decision to sell out to the Yanks. [Post edited 6 Feb 2020 10:13]

Arsenal are looking for a quick fix and Stones definitely isn't the answer. Couldn't imagine him challenging Adams or Keown in their heyday for a starting place. They'd be better off buying Rodon and in couple of years they'd have one of the best centre backs in the country. With much better players around him, he's probably just about ready to step up like Tomori has at Chelsea.
