It was a strange amount of time added on considering the 3 goals and all the subs.Maybe the ref felt sorry for them?

Yes, refs do that sometime - what was the point of continuing?

Brought great laughter to where we were sitting. Chap behind had a bet on that both teams would score and with that miss in the 89th minute his head was firmly in his hands. Just seem £80 wave cheerio! And when the 1 minute came up he just sat there In total disbelief. Step forward Joe Lumley! 😃🤣

What if you had 7-1 or 6-2 on a betting slip ??

Btw 6-1 was 100/1 .

3 goals, five subs and the Leistner injury.

I would imagine that if we had been winning 1 or 2 nil there would have been 8-10 minutes of extra time until they drew or won.

Not that it matters. Cardiff played like they had come straight from a big NYE night out to the game.

Never knowingly right.

A rather different reaction from the guy beside me - at half-time he revealed he'd had a bet on the game containing 6 goals. As we all gave each other hugs and high-fives at the end, I felt a bit sorry for him, the poor bastard was in shock.

Was amused after the four minutes against Hull, (Hull players lying on the floor for much of the second half).

Yes Leistner injury, (which didn't look good), plus numerous subs, don't have problem with one minute, ( which obvious joke), but it shows they are just making it up as they go.

Derby away last year?

Absolute joke the time keeping this season, they pull a time out of a hat.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

We should be thanking the ref
If he'd played the correct 5 or 6 minutes we might still have lost.

In Germany they ignore injury time if the game is done and dusted at 90 minutes. They probably do it in other countries. Why risk injuries or missing your train so that a pedantic ref can tick all of the boxes? Just blow the f*cking whistle and go home.

Play the proper time and that means adding the correct amount of time on. You can't pick and choose when you want to apply standards, they need to be applied correctly and consistently.

There are far too many things being let go in the game. For instance there were clampdowns on shirt pulling and aggressive behavior towards the referee in the last few years, both faded away after a few weeks.

I don't agree actually. The extra time should be played if it can affect the result or there's a major goal difference angle on the result. Playing out five minutes of injury time when we're 6-0 up or whatever and people have long journeys home seems thoroughly pointless to me. I wouldn't worry about it though - we'll soldier on to the very end like we always do!

Yes people can leave whenever they want but why do tired players have to trundle around for another five extra minutes just because the clock says so? The extra time is to make up for lost time, but sometimes the lost time isn't needed is it? By all means formalise the process and the fourth official can ask both managers if they want to play the extra minutes, but for me if it's not necessary then why bother? Sooner or later a good player will get injured in unnecessary stoppage time and why? So that some bloke who has backed 6 plus goals gets a run for his money?

As I say, I wouldn't worry about it as it won't happen, but for me the German way is far better.

How much did he wager to win £80 ?! Seems like printing money

We will agree to differ but why bother playing one minute if that was his attitude. Think Lumley might have been happier.

Another consideration is goal difference. If he had played the correct amount of time then it would have been possible for Cardiff to have scored, another goal or two. That could be a factor at the end of the season.

Yes we'll agree to differ on this. If it ever came down to goal difference at the end of the season, we'd more than likely be looking back on some disallowed goal or dodgy penalty than how many added minutes we got against Cardiff, and rightly so. However it is what it is and compared to VAR or the offside rule it's not really that much of an arseache is it?

The ref should have stopped the game after 60 minutes and let Cardiff go home.
