I've watched from early door too.
Do you think he has improved much over and above what you'd expect from a youth becoming a man?
At under 18 I thought he go into great places but fluffed shots and final pass - got a little over excited.
I think he still does.
Very exciting and draws defenders but I would have hoped for more. |
He's not massively better than he was two years ago. His game has improved in areas but with a dodgy loan and injuries hampering him last season he's not had much opportunity to progress. Shrewsbury could and maybe should have been the making of him, but for a few reasons it didn't work out.
Compare how he played in the Palace and Birmingham games to what he produced the other day and there's already noticeable development in composure in the final third. Could have had 3 assists but for quality last ditch defending and Fulton's header being better placed (a great pickout of a well-timed run). Dean Henderson made a brilliant save to deny him against Sheffield, when his shot was heading into the bottom corner.
Back when he was first coming into the u23s I was waiting for him to have a growth spurt. Doesn't look like that's happening now. | | | |

I’m still hoping he stays. I’d love us to bin off Leeds too. Those outcomes would be very sweet. More optimistic than I was with the Bony news and the Yorkshire puddings having a strop because we haven’t surrendered. |  |

Several issues I have from his entire story:
1. Why are Leeds acting like they call the shots? They want our player - they can either pay up or f**k off.
2. Even if we accept a bid from them, has DJ even indicated, let alone aid he want's to go? Posters on here saying he's keen on the move, make him put a transfer request in then if he want's to go.
We shouldn't even be entertaining selling DJ if we can get Bony off the books. |
Call me cynical of course but I reckon they’ll put a deal together for Bony first but not publicise, sell James then say that a late deal came in for Bony. “We wouldn’t have sold James if the Bony deal had happened earlier.” My white, shiny one!!! |  |
