So then...forum aside this site has become a little bit of a walking disaster over the last year (and more) as someone pointed out the other day the site rarely gets updated with news since the last writer got fed up of the abuse of doing so..!

Anyway, the good (!) news is that I have a couple of people prepared to write and I have some time that I can devote to it again. What I dont want to happen is the site to become a regurgitation of news elsewhere although news elsewhere can of course create opinion articles.

The question though is what do you - the good readers of Planet Swans (or as seems to be the one person with endless usernames) - want to see from the site going forward?

Impossible,Really!?

Lord Bony seemed to quite easily provide three at the drop of a hat......when it suited him.

I respect that you dont want to give them out, that is how it should be as a moderator.

Take note Bony.

Yes it is impossible based on the fact that two people could log in from the same machine on the same day using the same internet connection

There is a way of all moderators being able to see a user re-registering after a ban hence why I always say that bans are effectively pointless

You, your mate Neathie and The Res can be as correct as you like.
No problem with that.
What does bother me is when others (whether their views are correct or not) are told to f*** off, called c**** and to a lesser extent called childish names like simpletons just because they don't agree with your views.
The Res is by far the worst exponent of this,
As for ruining debate, you do this as often as anyone, so don't be hypocritical.

Nailed on. It seems impossible for them to disagree on an opinion without going into "wow you are clueless" mode.

In that case a free for all forum is acceptable is it not.

I'd like to see a Welsh forum. It could be called Y ffrwm Cymraeg.

What about a forum on which posters can advertise their second hand or unwanted items that they want to get rid of? Sounds like a winner.

Nonsense, I disagree with people everyday on here without calling them names.

Don’t get sucked in by the nonsense.

Or you can back up what you’ve just said.

Oh come on the abuse from some on here is shocking.
Couldn't give a toss personally but some are more sensitive than others.
And there must be loads who have stopped posting because of it.

Pardon?

I’ve not said that there isn’t, perhaps you miss quoted me by accident?

I was defending myself against an accusation levelled at me.

What's the point having rules if they are not enforced.

Forum rules are always designed to be guidelines

They havent changed in 17 years and wont change

Self moderation is by far the easiest way and its not even that difficult. That way you see what you want when you want

I don't want the rules to change.
I just feel that if posters over step the mark and continue to do so something should happen.
If you are saying bans don't work how would you deal with a poster who is constantly abusive for instance.

Most posters do self moderate, but unfortunately the egotistical ones rule the roost.
