Roque Mesa a Swansea style player.......a style we once were!? 09:13 - Sep 25 with 9949 viewsmagicdaps10

Not being picked by the manager!!

We all strive to get back to that fluid, passing football that was a behold too watch, setting us aside to most teams in this league.

Some managers can come in as relegation fighters and are good at it BUT ultimately none have gone on to bring back the Swansea style.

Bad decisions at the wrong times have been the big issue at our club for the last three seasons, mistakes not being rectified or learnt upon.......do that in most work places and you will soon be visiting the job centre.

Exactly and there's a way of dealing with players fking up, behind closed doors not throwing them under the bus to the media, how does he think it will help the football if the players are afraid to make a mistake.

Nothing wrong with Clement's reaction imo. He gets emotionally involved and it was an error that we all reacted to. I didn't see his reaction to the Mawson challenge but imagine it was similar.

I am curious as to how Bony gifted them a goal though? I'm assuming that's to do with their first when his lay off fell to them? If so, surely the fact that Mawson was 15 yards deeper than any other defender and the fact that Clucas tackled Fernandez thus presenting Gray with the ball all went unnoticed?

Agree with what your are saying on Bony, it was a wayward pass, but we should defend it better.

If I'm being super critical, I would look at Fernandez, he should have spoken to Clucas, was a routine interception and Clucas didn't have to commit as he did. But it's easy to say that watching the replay, it happened quickly and we didn't react properly.

The second goal is what grates me, I play centre half myself and if I got done in a challenge like that I would be horrified even at the level I play at never alone if I was a Premier League player. Horrendous.

Rookie error.

I don't care. I'm old. I don't have to.

The way Clement had dealt with is totally unprofessional, yes he said the whole team played badly but then singled out mesa, the bloke is a coward.

""Although I cannot promise or predict the future, I can guarantee one thing - the current board of directors will always fight, as we have done over the last 12 years, to work together as one with the Supporters Trust to make 100% sure that Swansea City football club remains the number one priority in all our thoughts and in every decision we make."

I’d say he was unprofessional in the way he set up the team at kickoff.

I’ve no vendetta against him but he loves to get on the pitch at the end of a game when we’ve won to take the applause so he’s got to take the boos. The rough and the smooth etc.

I like messa and think he will do well for us. He did not cost us the game. Mawson should have dug him out of that hole.

Players make mistakes FFS, both goals came from stray passes but there was plenty of opportunities to mop up so citing those passes as a reason for the loss is bullish!t.

The manager is siglehandedly responsible for that loss, regardless of how much he wants to deflect on to individual player errors.

He's lost a lot of goodwill by sending a team out like that and he's on dodgy ground as far as I'm concerned.

I'll come out and say it, I think he's f*cked and very close to losing the dressing room, if he hasn't done already.

Yes he deserves time after his achievements last year, but he's capitulating quickly with his press releases etc.

It's a strange one, personally i think Clement is close to losing the players, the difference after half time on Saturday was telling, almost like the players were released from a system that is stifling them to the point of affecting form and respect .

I'm not really looking at the players but looking at Clement, he is a decent functional coach with many positives, his problem seems to be that his idea of football and the supporters ideas are a mile apart so far.

Huw Jenkins also has an idea on what kind of football should be played , i'd guess Mesa ,Bony and Clucas are Jenkins players and Tammy and Renato Pauls.
Nothing is fitting quite as it should , a classic case of too many cooks spoiling the broth in terms of recruitment style of play and tactics.

Mesa is a swans type player, not sure clement is a swans type coach, at the moment clem is more like a premier league Kenny Jacket, the coach has some real searching questions to ask himself in the coming weeks, clear to everyone Mesa is perfectly fine in our midfield the issue is the coach and his way of playing, its easy to see with the clean slate of a new season and fresh start.
I think clement is smart enough to move in the right direction but he may need a nudge, i think the players gave him one on Saturday, he needs to be bold and trust himself more as a coach, we all know he can grind out games and thats an incredible weapon to have, but the fans demand a certain product and his objective needs to be getting us back to that, playing mesa would be a start.

From Derby Football Club october 2015.

"""Paul Clement has revealed his satisfaction at Derby County’s impressive defensive displays in recent weeks.

During Derby’s five matches between the September and October international breaks, the Rams conceded just two goals in five games.

The 2-0 home win over Brentford last weekend also meant Clement’s side had kept clean sheets in three of their last four Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

Clement believes the defensive performances have been equally as important Derby’s potency in front of goal.

Clement told Rams Player HD: “It gives you a great chance if you defend well and are robust at the back.

“We’ve made ourselves difficult to beat and the statistics so far certainly back that up.

“In our last ten matches we’ve lost once and that was in the final minute against Leeds United at the end of August.

“We’ve also seen as well that we can score goals and we’ve certainly been doing that in the last few matches.”""

Clement has now had 9 month to make Swansea play as he want them to be. It seems we must just accept that Clement like a very defensive style (just part of his DNA).

Regarding your last paragraph. He needed a nudge last year to bring Britton back in, that nudge I would argue was the main factor in that juicy bonus he had. He's making the same mistake twice. I wouldn't call it smart if he's yet again being pretty much forced into making changes to rectify his glaring errors.

Don't worry there's another nudge winging it's way to him through the post as we speak.

Problem there is we aren't that hard to beat. Point at Tottenham or not.

I was expecting us to be defensive this season, but to play attractive, attacking football at the right times. We've certainly got the players to do it. So far, he is really struggling to find the balance.

He may put himself under the spotlight if we play he has been setting us up against Huddersfield and Leicester, especially if we don't score.

Agree. I mentioned this last week also, it took a while for him to play Leon, and i drew the parallel with Mesa, it just doesn't suit us not to have a Leon/Mesa type in there taking it and giving it.

As others have rightly mentioned it seems clement prefers zero risk and know quantities !

We've played some good stuff under him but i think he goes into a huge 6 weeks now, he's proven to be the perfect manager to get teams tight and nullify the opposition but clearly needs help in other aspects of the game, i think he's smart enough to work i tout though.

Clement went bonkers as soon as the ball was lost.

Yes, somebody should have a word with Messa, and somebody should definitely speak to Mawson.

Who is going to have a word with Clement and kick his ass? he was equally to blame for Saturdays loss.

"Who is going to have a word with Clement and kick his ass?"

Don't worry, pal, Sgoriofruit sent a letter.

Good luck, Mr Cooper
